I knew from the get go that Bauer was about as finicky as they come, but this has just totally thrown me for a loop.

We gave Bauer his dinner last night at around 9 as usual. I believe I mentioned elsewhere that after the throwing up of the raw chicken we were going to at least get him on a good wet food and ease him into the rest. We chose blue buffalo wilderness and he loves it and we have no had a problem either getting him to eat it or afterwards. We put minced pieces of raw chicken in it once or twice since he's been moved over to it, and he threw the food up shortly afterwards. We decided to wait a good week or so to try mixing any sort of raw food into his meals again. He has been eating the blue wilderness enthusiastically and with no problems since.

It has been a week or so since we had any incidents, but Low and behold 2 hours after dinner last night, I woke up to him howling (as he has done right before every other time he threw up), flew out of bed, took him to the bathroom, and he threw up. Nothing was in it but food. Not even stomach acids or liquids. Just food. I cleaned up, stayed in there with him for some time to observe his behavior, but he just wanted to go back into the bedroom, curl up with OH, and go back to sleeping. This morning he has been bouncing around as he usually does on the morning, and OH fed him a small breakfast of which he is now eating, again, enthusiastically.


I don't get it, and this is the only time this has ever happened with the blue wilderness by itself. His behavior has remained bouncy and normal all the while. I heard kittens throwing up food, even often in some cases, is not all that uncommon. Is he just eating too fast? Just looking for any sort of explanation as he would do this outside of being noticeably ill. Thank you all once again in advance.

do you think it could be a gas problem? did he eat the food too fast? Maybe he needs a little bit extra help with gastroenteritis issues?

I know this is totally off topic but I've had medical issues for years with my diet, manly due to gallbladder issues. But since having my gallbladder out, I still have to be careful with what I eat ass it causes really bad trapped wind pains and I throw up.

I'd see if it happens again but when he throws up, limit his diet for 24hrs i.e plain cooked chicken and basic kibble with water and ease him back into foods.

Give the vet a call or even talk to a reputable breeder in your area, see what they would suggest.

Yes, better to play it safe when it comes to food. if it isnt broke, don't fix it
