Does anyone wash their bengals? Mine dont really like touching water and they smelt a bit yesterday and i used a bit of water on them to clean them down a bit and they didn't mind. If anyone does, what do they use? Dont want to irritate them.

Thanks

Cats ordinarily don't need baths; however if you want to wash the fur-faces then baby shampoo would be my choice.(I used to use it on my pooch many moons ago :D ) What's good for a human bub is good for our furry bubs! :D

There are special cat shampoos at the vet and on the net ;).
Babies shampoos are ok but not totally adapted (different skin pH etc).

Anne is right :D It was over 20 years ago when I last had to bath a pooch

You can also buy dry cat shampoos if your cat doesn't like water

just be sure to rinse very well, they will lick themselves to their idea of 'clean' afterwards- you certainly dont want them to eat anything bad for them
:)

When ever I had a show to go to with my Rottweilers I would bath them with Pantene shampoo... (obviously a few days before) theyre coats would look fantastic, My boy erik won two titles so human shampoo cant be that bad... :D
All I recommend is that you rinse rinse rinse. its the residue that irratates.. :(

I use large pet wipes for an all over rub down - the wipes are safe on their eyes, ears, bottom etc. Much easier than risking getting scratched arms/legs/hands!

I try not to bath my bengal at home fearing that animal right personals will knock on my door accusing me for animal cruelty (she meows like a ferocious animal but doesn't hiss nor bite). If she sheds like crazy in the summer I sent her to the groomer. Otherwise I too, like the kitty wipes. It's mild and contains vitamins that cats need. She smells very nice for a long time. =)

Well Chaos yesterday had the great idea to pee in the litter tray just cleaned but not yet refilled  and then to slip and fall in it  so I put him in the shower and rinced him quickly... then held him and gave it to OH for a rub but oh my he wasn't happy at all and meowed loudly, and I think hurt OH in his attempt to escape .

I had to bath to bath mine a few months ago, i had just squirted bleach down the loo, i turned my back for two seconds to put the lid on an heard a loud plop! i found tricky head first down the loo covered in bleach! the loo seat is always down so i think he must have gone to jump on it but ended up in it instead. Luckily it was only on his fur and not in his eyes. he wasnt my friend for quite some time after though Image

What is it with bengals and loos? One of Laras kittens, Haltia (that means Elf) decided to jump in to it on his second night in the new home. His owner told me he wasn´t anywhere near her but it took him only half a microsecond to dive in  And of course before she managed to flush. She said it wasn´t that much fun to wash yelling bengalkitten at 4 am.

She have asked for Haltia´s brains, but I warned her, bengalkittens doesn´t have brains :D And she still wanted one  (And she loves her brainless-boy very much)
