We are going to Las Vegas for a weeks holiday and its the first time we have to leave our babies in a Cattery. We live in Welwyn Garden City and I wondered if there was anyone local on here that could recommend a good Cattery?

would your breeder not be able to have them back while you're away?

i have a little girl from my last litter coming back this week for her holidays while her new mummy & daddy go away, i think it's nice to be able to see them & how they're progressing.

if not, maybe do a search to see if there are any bengal breeders in your area who also have cattery facilities, it's better to have someone who is familiar with the breed as they have different requirements to the average cats.

Have you considered a pet sitter? Around here, there are services where you can hire a pet/house sitter who will stop by once or twice a day, clean the litter boxes, feed the cats and keep them company for a little while. It might be easier on the cats not to be ripped out of their familiar surroundings, plus you get the benefit of having someone to check the house, take the mail in, turn the lights on/off etc.

Our breeder mmmm nope they were a couple who had a Queen breed one litter and now they have seperated and the Queen has been neutered so no joy there.

OH has a few local Catteries that we have been told about so think we'll try and book to visit them at the weekend and go from there maybe. Is there anything we should be looking for and what's a good price to look after 2 Bengals?

fantastic!
they should understand the needs of the breed & give them the love & care they need while you're away :)

Well put it this way there was a strong smell of amonia, pens were tiny and it was all locked up and fur covered everything in the cages even the empty ones, litter trays were dirty etc

OMG...
these places need to be closed down. the owners should be ashamed of themselves :(
How can anyone happily show people around and expect you to leave your little furchild in such conditions..
at best they would come home depressed, mentally scared & ill...
at worst.... it doesnt bare thinking about..

I don't want to go into too many details in case that person is a member on here but......we were suprised that she was also breeding Cats they showed us the Kittens and they were gorgeous yet the adult cats seemed awfully small bearing in mind ours are six months the fully growns there were only slightly bigger.

You could contact the Feline Advisory Board to see if there is an FAB approved cattery near you. I pay £15 per day for 3 cats in a large pen - it isn't cheap but an FAB approved cattery is the only one I'll use.
This link takes you to the FAB site where you can find your nearest FAB cattery. :)
