This topic made me literally laugh out loud. I had posted about "Scented or Unscented Litter", as Diablo's poop also stinks up the whole room!!! I finally found Odour Busters which is supposed to be an amazing clumping litter. "The “Odour Buster Once a Week” recipe was invented in 2003. It took years of research & development. It was originally developed to control and destroy odours coming from pigs / chicken manure on farms. The Agronomist who invented the recipe was looking for other applications for his invention. He thought that “If it’s good enough for pig’s and chicken’s odours, it would be good enough for cat’s odours”. He adjusted his recipe to be used as cat litter. It has been on the market since 2004 and growing in popularity. It is a total and complete odour control cat litter. IT CAN LAST FOR MANY DAYS, EVEN WEEKS WITHOUT MAINTENANCE. The secret 8 ingredients contained in our product do not try to camouflage odours, but rather prevent odours from coming out. Our defence against odours comes from the drying accelerators and bacteria destructing ingredients for liquids and solids included in the recipe to prevent odours from ever coming out of the box.
- It helps to neutralize bacteria, this is they key in preventing litter box odours.
- It is scent free! For any people who are sensitive to smell. But here is a thought most people have not had. Many popular litters claim to eliminate odours, yet the have scented litter. Well why doesn't it eliminate the added scent? How does it eliminate bad smells and keep the good smell?? It doesn't, it masks the odour.
- It is DUST FREE. Many litters make this claim as well. This litter is the most truly dust free litter to have seen to date. One reason being is that after the litter goes through the process to remove the dust they then sell it to pig producers. The farmers roll the piglets in the litter and this helps to eliminate some of the bacteria on the piglet and then they have a higher survival rate.
Yes this litter initially costs more then the average litter but you do not have to dump out your box of litter again. You simply have to keep the litter at appropriate levels and you shouldn't have any problems. It is still a good idea to wash the boxes occasionally but you just put the litter back in and top it up with fresh litter."
After reading all this, I decided to try it. I like the fact that you do not have to throw away the entire litter, you can re-use it once you wash out the box, and add more. However, it does not mask the odour at all....Diablo's scent is worse than a pig's or a chicken!!!!!
