Hello, I am new to this forum. I have a 2 year old marble snow bengal who is the sweetest thing! His birthday was actually yesterday and his name is Link.

A friend of mine has a two year old female fixed bengal. She looks almost identical to mine. Unfortunately she has to get rid of her since she is pregnant (not the cat :p). I would love to take her in as I have wanted to get Link a playmate. Link doesn't show signs of aggression or dominance towards anyone and gets along quite well with our dog. He also lived with about 100 cats for the first 9 months of his life. In my opinion I think they would get along. What do you think? We would actually be her third home and I want it to be her last, in her first one she lived with a male who was very dominant and beat up on her. I just don't see Link acting like that at all, has anyone has a similar experience and how did you introduce the two? Will they not get along since they are opposite sex? They are also BOTH fixed. I also heard Feliway is good when introduces new cats.

Thanks!

As she is your friend could you not bring her over to visit Link and see what his initial response is? That would probably be a good indication.

My guess would be that they will probably get along just fine. It actually should help that they are both the same age and opposite sex. It might take some time for both to adjust to another cat in the house though. It can take cats a couple of weeks to get used to each other, so I wouldn't be discouraged if they're not immediately friendly with each other.

Well we went through with it and got her. It's been almost a week. The two kitties seem to get along now. I'm almost positive they are playing but I am not 100% sure. They chase each other all over the house but since my boy is a lot bigger he runs over her and pins her down and they bite one another. It looks harmless and there isn't a lot of growling or hissing so I assume they are just playing. It just worries me since he's bigger and I don't want him being a jerk to her. She does sometimes instigate it though! I read somewhere that he is just showing her he was here first and he's the boss cat. I also read about a way you can tell who is the alpha cat. The boss cat will sit in the middle of a room and the other one will circle the perimiter not making eye contact. When and if eye contact is made they start jumping on each other and start to play. That basically describes them to the T! It's quite funny watching them, I will worry if I see furballs and blood!!
