We have had our Bengal Lily for around 1 month. She is 10 months old. After a slow start, she has warmed to our family and now runs the place:)
My questions are
1/ Should we bath her? If so, how often and with what in the water?
2/ She loves the outdoors, so she probably has a chance of getting fleas. What is a good way of protecting her, flea collars?

We would like to look after her, as she is really part of our family now

Unless she gets very dirty or is going to a show I wouldn't bathe her at all. She is quite capable of keeping herself very clean,you can groom her but bathing too frequently will probably remove all of the essential oils in her coat.

I wouldn't recommend flea collars at all, in fact I wouldn't recommend her going outside, but that is another issue well dealt with on this forum.

Some of the spot-on preparations from the vet are probably the most appropriate for fleas. Some that you can buy from the supermarket/pet shop have a chequered history as regards safety so the best thing is to consult your vet. He will advise you on worming, fleas etc. and the appropriate dosages needed for Lily.

I agree with Elaine, i use spot on from the vets it's fantastic stuff, and avoid flee treatments from pet shops at all costs, i have read some real horror stories attatched with these, i also get my worming tablets from the vets,again its the safest way to treat you kitten.
