I am an avid wild cat lover and I am intrigued by the
bengal cats. I have read a few websites where owners of these cats say they
have projectile direahea due to an irriable bowl syndrome that is very
common in this breed due. Is that true? - I can see why a breeder would not
want to mention that on their website as it would hurt sales, but I would
not want to consider purchasing this breed if this is the case. Looking
forward to your response..

Also, are they more demanding then a normal pet are are destructive?

I have two bengals, Tia who is 22 months and Diego who is 14 months old,
i can honestly say that in all the time that i have had them i have never experienced projectile dirrehea their toilet habbits are completly normal, in fact they are really clean, to the degree that if Tia hasn't covered
her number two's properly Diego does if for her.
They are a demanding breed ( in my opinion ) but in a good way, mine are devoted to use as a family, getting involved in almost everything we do, right down to emptying the washing machine, im sure Tia thinks she can do a better job . They are loving and gentle, and life in our family just wouldn't be the same without them, which im sure you'll hear from other members, i would recomend this breed to anybody, a pure delight

Bengals aren't wild cats. They are a fully domesticated breed.
(just thought I'd mention that in case there was any misunderstanding. Pardon if there wasn't. )

Hi I just thought I'd mention that we were told not to feed our bengal tinned cat food otherwise she will have direahea so we never have taken the chance. So she gets a bowl of dried food which contains all the vitamins she needs ( a bit like the Royal caine except ours is from Costco) and that is constantly filled plus I give her a little fresh meat each day such as chicken, turkey, fish and her favourite dish is tuna . These two combined keep her coat lovely and shiney, her teeth healthy and no diareahea !!

I'm sure you will make the right choice in choosing a bengal as they are such adorable cats.

I know where "projectile diarrhoea in Bengals" idea came from.
There is an American site that is well known to be anti-Bengal.

The site comes up every now and again as a topic in the American Bengal forums. One US breeder wrote re that site.

"This site is an OLD, OLD enemy, around for years. Writing to HER just fuels her fire. "

The anti-Bengal page on that site is just an unfortunate example of the unfounded bad publicity Bengals get.

There are "bad" cats in every breed (including moggies) as well as ill ones, even ones with diarrhoea, it just seems to be Bengals that get blamed if any issues arise.

Diarrhoea in a BSH, or an aggressive Siberian is fine but if it is a Bengal with a problem then the whole breed is maligned.

I free feed mine Innova EVO, and he splits a SMALL tin of canned food with two other cats each night - just as a treat, it isn't meant to fill them.

He seems to be pretty regular all the time now.

Anwen, I'm surprised your vet kept getting you to switch foods like that. Simply switching a cat's diet like that can cause diarrhea!
