Hi Everyone,

i've heard of many breeders mention the " Clouded Leopard " pattern, take a look at this cat....SOOO BEAUTIFUL
http://www.angelo.edu/faculty/kboudrea/ ... eopard.jpg

Now go and take a look at Spot Lights on Me & Dazzledots In The Spotlight (Elite) on Dazzledots website.
http://members.shaw.ca/dazzledots/studs.htm

Without a doubt we all love the rosettes. For me that is what intrigued me about Bengals in the first place. But we musn't forget the type and many breeders are getting good heads without going back to early generation cats. It's all about moving forward not backwards....this is my opinion :D

Saying all this there has to be a balance. I know a breeder in the US who is no longer breeding now. She concentrated that much on the wild heads and not coats that she was getting really bad ticked coats and couldn't sell them. There needs to be a balance....somewhere in the middle

We bought a stud boy a few yers ago just for his head. He wasn't glittered and didn't have the best looking coat either but the kittens he sired had amazing heads.
The down side for us is that most of his kittens didn't have good coats and many were ticked. We felt that we needed to move away from him, keep a daughter and 2 grand daughters who had better coats and good heads.

We are not big breeders so it was difficult for me to keep a stud that only seemed to have good kittens with one of our girls. His kittens with our other 4 girls were pretty awfull

So now we prefer to work with boys that are glittered with average heads " not perfect " . We have a couple of unglittered girls with good heads and a few girls with lovely glittered coats...their heads are not as good.

I like this challenge of putting the 2 together

well i think i have been lucky because i have never had a ticked pelt cat yet i think this was down to llandar national velvet who was my amazing stud cat that no matter what queen he was put to never produced the tic pelt dont get me wrong junglerose i do like the rosetted cats and they will be part of my breeding programme but i will never give up my wild blood. a lot of breeders have always condemned what they havent got. i will not be part of pursuading anyone as to what type of standard to keep just because i have early generations after all it is what ever each individual person prefers and has to live with . i love the lottery litters , and would lose interest in the breeding if i knew that every litter was going to be simular . thats why i love the bengal cat its so different from most.

Hi Everyone,

That F3 girl is gorgeous. She has the rosettes and a beautiful head etc.
I don't think we can recreate the ALC but some of them have gorgeous markings as well, not small spots and ticking. An unglittered coat is not neccessarily ticked. I have some stunning cats here without glitter.
I do feel that without the early generations that eventually we are in danger of ending up with a more domestic looking cat. No offence to the BSH (I have a friend who breeds them and they are beautiful in their own right) but I don't see the point of producing Bengals with the characteristic short face and broad head more reministent of a British. Don't forget the head, nose, muzzle, eyes etc. carries as many points as the coat in the Tica standard. That is why some wow factor cats, in terms of coat, haven't walked away with the finals as their breeders expected.
I don't have the perfect cat here and I agree I also like the challenge of putting together cats with different qualities in order to improve on the parent/s. I love the rosettes as well but I also look at the overall picture. I guess head type will always be the most important for me. They don't have to be perfect but as close as I can get at present.
By the way the stud boy Elaine L is talking about is the sire of SGC Wildsidebengals Jadis of Junglefire.

Regards

Liz Slater

Hi,

What do you think of my friend's SBT boy pictured at only 1 week old.

You see you can get the wild heads without going back :D

Wish this boy was mine ..SIGH !!!! [/url]

This boy is an 8th generation.
just look at this boy's head again against an ALC.

This boy is unglittered with a SUPER clear coat.

I love to see photos of early generation cats but to see the head on an SBT ( 8 generation ) just proves that you can move forward and STILL produce the wild heads and type.

Well done to my friend...Pat on the back and I m not a jealous person of people that breed from beautiful cats wether it is early generations or further generations .
