Hi all,

I'm a little bit confused at the change in Diego's behaviour.
As a lot of you are aware, when we brought Diego home Tia was far from amused, and we had a heartbreaking week, that was 10 months ago, since that time they have bonded into a loveing pair, although they can have their moments  , but nothing out of the ordinary.
In the last week Diego has started bullying Tia, aggresively pinning her down by the neck, biteing her hard, there has been lots of hissing screaming etc...
this is not play, and completely out of character for him ( he had the snip 6 months ago so its not that), she can be sleeping and he'll do it, it's making Tia edgy, this dosent happen all day long, and they do on occasion sleep together, but Tia is becoming less tolerent of him.
Any idea's ? im hopeing this will pass.

Nikki

Hi Nikki, my male cat Horus, does that to his sister - i've read somewhere that it's sexual frustration??

I know it quite often follows with my male cat wanting to go outside and mark his territory, so my suggestion is that this sort of behaviour is territorial/sexual. :?:

I don't know when Horus was neutered but i know that he was done well before he was a year old. Neutering does not always solve agressive/territorial tendencies.

I often break up the behaviour (safely) when i see it as it only serves to make Saffy irritated and intolerant. Not only that, it usually happens in the windowsill and she ends up falling off and hurting herself. :?

I hope this is just a phase and Tia and Diego settle again soon x

My neutered male bengal does the same thing to one of my female cats. :/
