I have a F3 silver Bengal and a F1 melanistic Bengal also that i rescue. I have also had a standard black cat in the past. Trust me a lot of it is in the attitude of a Bengal. They are definitely not for the faint of heart.

I would think it would be very difficult to get an F1 melanistic bengal in a litter.

This is Jet my black bengals. He had spots as a kitten but they faded as he got older. He way more mellow at age 5.

Hi, this is my first time on this forum. We have a black Bengal, he is now 3 1/2. Onyx, is an absolute ratbag, he owns the neighbourhood, catchs snakes and Water Dragons bigger than himself, then just lets them go and goes looking for a dog to terrorize. He chases Possums up a tree, usually beating them to the top and then comes down forward toward them steering them out. He can jump on the roof of the house (8') and then leaps off the roof to the bar (8'). I can say he looks nothing like a standard black cat, he has spots and stripes, long sleek body, extremely powerful, and side on looks like a small Panther. He has a wide flat black nose, yellow/green eyes and very shinny soft coat. Our female is only part Bengal, and portraits only a few of the traits.

Welcome to the forum. Melanistic bengals are beautiful. There are melanistic tabbies, too. Obviously you let yours out in the free world to roam, which can be dangerous. He may think he is an alpha cat, but there will always be something bigger and badder that can tell him he is not! We would love to see a picture.
