Hi,

We have a 3 year old cat which I suspect has a bit of bengal in her! We found her wandering along the grass verge near a main road when she was only about 5 wks old and decided to take her in. She's nothing like any other cat I've had and does unusual things like climbing up doors, plays fetch like a dog and has a fascination with water. Her coat is very dense and soft and her markings seem to be more striking than a normal tabby - do you think from the pics below that she could possibly have some of the breed in her?

Hello

Certainly sounds like Bengal traits, climbing doors, water, fetch and carry all things that make me enjoy the breed so much

Enjoy her!!!

Thanks!

I also wanted a bit of advice really - she gets a bit carried away when grooming and tends to pull alot of fur out on her back, we often come home from work to find tufts around the house! Just wondering if anyone else has had this problem and what I can do to try and stop it!
:?

Thanks for that I'll take a look! I know its a long shot about her having some of the breed in her but I found out shortly after we got her that a local bengal breeder had an "unmanageable" male cat and released him onto a farm near to where we found her, so I guess there is a small chance our suspicions may be true! :)

I would say from her behaviour she must have some bengal in her. Not many cats climb doors like that :D

Plus I agree with Katie, she does look very bengal like in the last picture.

Bengal or no she is a beautiful cat!

As to the fur pulling, excessive grooming can be caused by allergies, seasonal or food. Is her skin red or bumpy where she licks? Does she do it more often when the seasons change? If you want to test for a food allergy you can put her on a "single source" food and see if that helps. That's a food that has a single source of protein and a single source of carbs, both of a type not usually found in cat foods. If she stops the excessive grooming after being on this food for several days, she has an allergy to something in the other foods she was eating. If you are in the US you should be able to find Natual Balance Venison and Green Pea. It is a single source food.

Good luck,

Medora
