My cat went to the vet today, and my vet recommended I find someone familiar with Bengal's and have them look at him. I don't think he is pure anything, he was "free to a good home." The lady had literally dozens of strays that wondered in and she fed them. She had several in the house that had kittens, and plenty more outside. They were all shapes, colors, and sizes. So, who knows what is lineage/breed may be.
Anyway, we picked him out. I don't think we even saw his parents, or even his mother. I know he had a sister that looked exactly like him.
Anyway, my vet was shocked by his markings and thought we had purchased him.
I am going to link photos to this as well. The only thing I can say about the photos is that they make him look more gray than he is IRL. He is more rusty brown IRL.
His behavior has baffled us a lot. He has been dragging food (not his food, ours) such as bread, marshmallows, toast, crackers, etc into our guest room (which is where he sleeps) and hiding them. He doesn't seem to be eating them AT all.
He has figured out how to jump on top of the kitchen cabinets, and we woke to quite a mess the other day. He had figured out how to get the cabinet above the sink open from above (no handle on the cabinet) and had drug out brown sugar (which was halfway down the hall and headed for the guest room), baking soda, Bisquick, and marshmallows (which he had hid in the room).
He seems to like water a lot and gets between the shower curtain and liner while we shower. As soon as we get out he gets in the tub while it is wet and plays around. He has also been known to jump in the toilet if we leave the lid up.
He scratches around his food bowl, on the floor, every time he eats. I have no idea what that is all about.
As far as looks, he has stripes and spots/broken stripes. They are very well defined and in sharp contrast with his color. His stomach has no stripes but is spotted (very well defined spots). His tail is ringed with a black tip. His eyes are very gold in color and quite pretty. He is muscular and lean, even though he eats a lot. He is 6 months and weighs 7.5 pounds.
The features that everyone in my vets office were commenting on were his markings, how beautiful his coat was, and his eyes. My vet said the eyes were amazing and definitely out of the ordinary. She was also surprised by his personality. Very friendly, but as soon as the exam started he turned quite mean and ugly. She said she was surprised by his wild nature. So were we!
I don't guess it really matters if he is/isn't a Bengal, we were just sorta curious
Of course, we aren't even humoring the idea that he is pure bred, just that he might be a mix.
The first few pics are when he was 6-8 wks old. The rest are of him at 6 months (now). In the one w/ the dog, no animals were hurt, I promise
That is our Golden and they play well together. The cat seems to think he is the boss over the dog LOL!
