Hello, I'm new here and I've got a few questions. I have an unnueterd male bengal named Oliver. He is a little over year old, and hes my first bengal cat. Anyways, is there anything wrong with keeping him unnuetered? Also, at what age do they stop growing size wise? And at what age does their coat stop developing? Thanks, heres a pic of Ollie

Hi, welcome to OUR world of Bengal Addiction :)

Your boy Oliver is very handsome.

Regarding neutering him. I STRONGLY ADVISE IT, if you want him to be your indoor PET.

If he is already a year old, you should probably do it SOON. Otherwise you could have problems with him "marking" or "spaying" your belongings, windowsills, doors and doorways.

It is very NATURAL for an un-neutered male to spray. The longer you wait, the greater the likelihood he will start. Particularly if there is an un-spayed female anywhere NEAR where you live. When the females go into heat, the males are MORE prone to spraying.

He will be a much healthier and SAFER boy, if you have him neutered, because the desire to "wander" to find female companionship is greatly reduced.

Welcome to the forum. Its really nice here - loads of good bengal loving people offering excellent advice. :D

I would agree with Lavon's comments, I have a male bengal kitten (only 16 weeks at the moment) and another male baby coming home in 1 weeks time - advice alround is to get them neutered if you want to keep them as house pets plus you really need to think about the possibilities of litters of unwanted kittens.

Hi there, my understanding (and I am a newbie) is that the coat should be fully developed by the time they reach a year old. Not sure about size, I did read somewhere that by the time they are 6 months they have reached 75% of their adult size so would expect by the time they are a year old not much growing left to do. Anyone????
