Can cats overexert themselves while playing? Mikesch is going crazy over the DaBird. One of the feathers is already completely shredded. He jumps and runs and twists in midair and crashes into things (including me) to catch that thing. He was starting to pant while chasing it, so I put the toy down to let him calm down a bit. I don't want to give him a heatstroke or anything! Is anyone else's bengal panting like a dog while chasing toys and what do you do when they do that?

YES! Cats can overexert themselves. If you see a cat pant then it's time to stop playing with them. One of our cats will just continue to play if you let her.

If your cat's panting, stop playing and have some cooling down time - literally. Make sure he/she has access to water.

And if you're a worry wart like I am I would put a fan on in the room.

I put an ice cube into his water bowl, which he thought was interesting, but he preferred to just plop down on the tiles. He's sleeping now in his customary twisted back position with one leg twitching every so often - probably dreaming of chasing feathers around the house.

Okey, I need to get a DaBird - does anyone know where they retail in the UK?

Moshi loves Ping Pong Balls and a stuffed fish we bought from Ikea for 25p he carries it around with him and growls at Indy if he trys to steal it, he also hides it in the Cat Tunnel and around the flat.

Indy absolutely loves fluffy teasers which don't last long and he runs off with them dragging the stick behind him and won't let Moshi have it. If the fluffy part comes off he carries it around.

Both like Boxes, Carrier Bags, Wine Bottle Corks, Straws and Tesco Bag For Life the one made out of the stuff like a potatoe sack.

They love alu foil balls, the laser pointer, and the absolute toy, the stick with feathers . But those don't last very long , I've got to hide them between play hours, else they'll drag it behind them and chew on it until every feather has come off...

I might try getting a Da Bird not heard of them before I read this thread.

If you get one, don't forget to also get lots of replacement parts. I've bought a package of feathers at the craft store to replace the ones Mikesch chews off. Oh, and make sure you swing it far away from your body or you might get used as a climbing post.

He adores boxes! He loves to hide, so that means he also likes to go under blankets and hide behind the shower curtain. He likes to chew the boxes up too. But he tries to fit into everything...


He likes fake mice but they don't last long (they get shoved under someplace). The laser pen and bird toy amuses him for a little while. He likes fetch, usually when I am trying to sleep he'll drop stuff in the hand. He'll make toys out of whatever and has taken to digging in my jewelry box

Toastie, that's a great shot! You should zip the bag up with him in it and pretend to take him with you!
