Hi All

I have just had Lubo a couple of weeks and will be picking up his brother Lenny in 3 weeks time. When I go back it is likely that my breeder may have silver kittens and oh boy am I going to be tempted!!!!!!

So my question to all you bengal devotees out there is how many is too many??? I'm aware that you have to take into account your own living circumstances etc but with a three-bedroom semi-detached house, large garden and only one 17 year old daughter, I don't feel space is a particular issue. I do work (and travel a wee bit) however have the support of my partner and the flexibility to work from home on ocassion.

Very interested to hear all views.

I have FIVE Bengals - and 4 DSH rescues, all indoors, and tho it is a lot of work with feeding and litter-box duties, my cats ALL get along famously.

The rescues range in age from 11 years to 3 years and the Bengals are all between 3 years and 1 year.

It's all according to how much time you are willing to devote to them.
They DO love interactive play, and they DO demand a SUPER CLEAN litterbox - but I can't see a 3rd giving you any problems at all. As long as they are properly introduced, and there are not "jealousy" issues over YOUR attention... Bengals LOVE playmates.

Hi Fancidots

Thanks for the advice. I'm still having some issues with my resident moggy. Nothing overly agressive but she won't play with Lubo and if he gets to close she does hiss and spit :x

I'm hoping the introduction of Lenny to Lubo won't be as painful as they are both kittens and did spend some weeks together at my breeders.

I did introduce Lubo very slowly Stitch (my moggie) however found she was happy to avoid the issue by spending all her me outside. I now restrict her to the same time out as before and feed her and Lubo together (albeit seperate bowls) in the morning and at night. All goes well until the greedy young bengal decides he wants her food too!!

Maybe I need to wait until I have these 3 in hand before getting another baby - not sure - such a difficult decision

Hi Linda

We live in a 3 bedroom semi and have 4 indoor "hormonal" breeding queens. They do have access to an outdoor run though which they can enter at their own leisure as it is attached to the house.

As Lavon said, they do like a clean litter tray. We clear out solids & clumps in the morning and then bleach the tray and fill with fresh litter every evening. We have 3 trays for the 4 cats and that seams to keep them happy. We installed a cat flap to the door under the stairs and the litter trays are kept there out of the way.

My advice would be to think long and hard before making any decisions...however, as you rightly pointed out your cats are more likely to get along if introduced at an early age, but do make sure your older moggie doesn't feel like she's having her nose pushed out

I have found that as long as my 11 year old rescue, who happens to ALSO be my most "neurotic" cat feels he is getting all the attention he WANTS from me, and is allowed some time on the screened porch, each evening away from the "rambunctious" Bengal youngsters -- he is FINE with the fact the others are there.

He GRUMBLES at Zenith quite a bit, because Zenith LOVES him so (and sometimes simply will NOT leave him alone) -- at first I worried about him HURTING Zenith -- but so far (a little over a year) he has NOT hurt him, even though sometimes he SOUNDS as if he wants to KILL him. LOL

I have found that giving EACH cat a little "special" time with me, each day, doing what THEY like best, from me... whether it be brushing, playing with the laser light, holding in my lap, or whatever -- all 9 live in relative consistant harmony. There is sometimes the "random spat" when play gets a little too "frantic" -- but I've never had to make a trip to the vet with a kitty one of the others has injured.

There is the occasional "grumbling" over a food bowl, because as Lubo does, Zenith will gobble ALL of his down, and then "butt in" to the other's bowls, but I often open a second can, for him, and he will come running to see if I've put something "new and different" down for him, and leave the others to eat in peace. They DO all have their OWN bowls, and have learned where THEIR place is, at feeding time. (4 eat ON the counter) while I'm filling the other 5 bowls, and the others each have "their" place on the floor. It's sometimes a hassle, but it really does cut down on the squabbling at feeding time.

Good Luck with you new kitten... keep us updated with more photos and stories :)

Thanks to you both. I just love coming on the forum telling stories, seeking advice and posting pics.

Lubo does have an enclosure but its not attached to the house - did not think about this when I had it built!!! Heidi I understand yours is a fairly fancy one to keep the neighbours quiet??? Do you have any pics? Does it run off your patio doors?

La von - I started up a blog site very similar to yours. Its in my web-site address........I need to hold some birthday parties to top yours though!!!!

I'll take the next couple of weeks to mull over any decision on another baby although those little silver faces will be very hard to resist!

Hi Steve - did you get all your bengals around the same time? How do they get along?
