Well at 6 months old Ludwig was getting winded easy took him into vet where we did a Echo of his heart ... his heart wall was enlarged, rechecked in a month seemed better at that time, so recheck again in 3 months just went for 3 month check up and heart wall enlarged this time worse than before. He now has been placed on heart medications and he is not even year old. ... 0_0531.jpg

To be a star, you must shine your own light, follow your own path, and don't worry about the darkness, for that is when the stars shine brightest

I know in detail of your distress.
I have had two kitties (neither one were Bengals) who have had HCM (enlarged / thickened heart walls)

I would like to encourage you, by saying that Sasquatch (my first HCM kitty) lived to be almost 15 years old.

My second HCM kitty is 3 years old, and has been on the medications for over a year. If you are diligent and follow doctor's orders, your cat can still have a quality life. Casper still plays with the Bengals (even though he is a DSH rescue) and so far, has had no really "dramatic" episodes.
I am realizing it is not just a Bengal problem, and they still can have a good life.

You should, however get in touch with your breeder, and let them know. It does tend to have genetic links, and they should have both parents screened, if they haven't already.

I wish you all the best.
My prayers for you, and Ludwig.
