Hi to all,

know, we have reserved our new baby, he is a very beautiful marbled
boy, and is now 4 weeks old, we now have the agonising wait till july.
We were hopeing that you guys hear on the forum would like to suggest
some names for him. As soon as i have some pics of him ill post them

My suggestion would be "Diablo"...suits ANY/EVERY male Bengal

MeeMonkey named one of our male kittens "Nordiquestar El Diablo" and the owners went on to use Diablo as his pet name.

They have 4 cats now all named after cars: Diablo & Bentley (the two boys) and Mercedes & Porsche (the two girls)

Of course the tell their friends Diablo was named after the car, but we know that's not the case

Hi to all, well the children have been talking about names all day and have
asked if they can name our new baby boy, and we said rather reluctantly yes
 they went off again chatting between themselfs and then over dinner
announced that they had chosen the name 'Diego' after their favorite character in ice age the movie, then rather quickly reminded us that we had
said yes to them naming him.

And so we now have his new name and three very happy children

sounds great.....kids always pick the best names!

I'm not sure that we've had a marble on the forums before.....maybe I'm wrong.

I'll bet the kids will drive you nuts for the next 8 weeks or so.....rather you than me!

Hi all,
Tia is 10 months this month and at the moment is the only cat in the house,
Diego is due to come home next month, and my concern is that Tia will hate
having another cat in the house.
For example, if she see's another cat out the window she growls and runs and hides or she's even been known to to run back and fro on the window cil
trying to attack the cat on the other side.
Buy the time Diego comes home Tia will be 11 months, is this to old to introduce her to another cat? And how do you suggest i go about it?
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated

Nikki :)

Hi Nikki

There's always going to be a risk when you introduce two cats but 11 months is still pretty young so the balance is in your favour. Also, Diego is going to be very small when he arrives and much less intimidating to Tia than a fully-grown cat so she probably won't feel that threatened.

Yes, there will be growling, hissing, boxing etc but this is to be expected. Don't tell Tia off to much if she starts bullying the kitten, instead, pick the kitten up out of harms way and give him a cuddle and reassure him that everything is OK. Within a few days, Tia will realise that he's not going anywhere and she will start to accept him.

If possible, try and be home for a few days (i.e. if you work, take a couple of days off) when you pick the kitten up, that way you can be there constantly to supervise. If you can't be home, make sure the kitten is left in a secure room without Tia until you are happy that they are friendly towards each other.

Before introducing them, try letting them smell each other. You can do this by getting two clean cloths, one for each cat (old tea towels should do). Rub the kitten down with one of the cloths. Give him a good rub down so the cloth is heavily scented. Then take the cloth to Tia and let her have a good sniff...at the same time give her some of her favourite treats (ham, chicken prawns etc). Do the same with the kitten but using a scented cloth from Tia. The idea is to get them to associate the smell of the other cat with something nice (i.e. the treat). Do this a few times over before introducing them. They'll still hiss growl and box but hopefully not so bad.

Do try not to reprimand Tia too much even if she is naughty as the last thing you want is for her to start associating the kitten with a good telling off.

Personally, I think they’ll be fine and no doubt become best friends within a couple of days

Good Luck

Hi Nikki,
I've just been going through what you will go through in a few months. My bengal female is 14 months old. I also have a 13 year old non-pedigree cat (also female). My new bengal kitten arrived two weeks ago :) her arrival was delayed becuase my adult bengal was unwell (cystitis and constipation) and is still under investigation. However, despite my doubts my little girl (Rose) has coped wonderfully. She got hissed at by 2 cats for about 5 days  I have a large kittening cage, (3ft by 2 ft in the lounge). This is her safe area for when I'm out or had to leave her unsupervised. All her things are in it, plus a cosy bed (just a small cardboard box with a blanket  . The older cat, virtually ignores Rose, but Branwen howled and hissed. However almost overnight she became a 'stepmother' and a very attentive one at that. The 2 bengals often sleep in the window sill together or in Branwen's box. Branwen comes running whenever she hears Rose cry. Its really quite touching ...... I didnt really try to get them to get along, as been very ill myself lately. I treat them both equally though.

Hope you have the same kind of luck,

Julie
