Hi to everyone,i have been having some worrys about problems that could occur with my bengal queen and thought i would ask you experts for advice incase the worst happens and i can be ready.

My bengal queen is 4 months old and worried about her calling early and what options you have if she does, for instance what if she starts calling at 6 months what do you do ? as i have heard about problems arising cysts etc do you mate her early or is there other steps you can take bearing in mind my queen came with a contract saying ......

"If for any reason she should prove to be infertile after 2 years we will replace her with a kitten of comparable quality as soon as one is available. This is providing the queen has not been left to call beyond 3 seasons, or has had hormone treatment to suppress the calls".

any advice would be appreciated

Tricky one really.......its upto you what you do concerning early mating, anywhere from 10-12 months is the norm as you already probably know!

But if shes starts to call early (8 months) try to keep her away from areas where males have been spraying to aviod setting her off again (if you have any males that is), This should help space the calls out a bit hopefully until shes mature probably won't have any problems though!

I have heard of breeders fooling their repro-instinct by restricting daylight......kind of making them think its not the right time of year for mating etc, etc....don't know how successful this actually is when put into practice.

Try and get to 11-12 months before mating, but I would definately mate her after the 3rd full call.....which ever comes first!

As for the contract......I don't know how they'd be able to tell shes had more than 3 full calls....once again you should have no problems regarding fertility, but I suppose theres always a chance hence the contract.

Hi and thank you meemonkey for your advice i hope these problems dont arise however its best to be ready for worst......
I used to have a male cat in the house be he was only 8 months old and i dont think he started spraying etc however i will try to keep her away from area he used to use his litter tray,i suppose if she was to call from 6 months i would have to contact breeder to let them know as i would not want to mate her any earlier than 10-12 months .
again thanks for response.
