I had though we could calmly enjoy some outdoor time on the balcony. He looks up to the balcony railing, the rafters over the balcony, the peak of the roof, the tree next to the house. You can almost see the little formulas and calculations in his brain. My reaction was "Oh crap" also as I quickly whisked him back into the house.

Oberon is a good "planner." Balconies, unless they are really dangerous spot for kitties if there is any way they can get out. I know of one kitty that broke a leg jumping from a balcony.
