Looking for some help in identifying our cat, JD.

During a recent vet checkup, the vet asked us about his lineage, and suggested that he may be 'part bengal'.
I've taken this with a grain of salt, as I just think he looks like a regular tabby cat, and we have no surefire way to tell, because we took him in from a stray batch of kittens.

He is a very large cat, and very talkative. His meow is not pleasant, and he isn't very cuddly. He tolerates being handled, but doesn't like to sit on us for more than a few seconds.

The last photo is of his littermate Sweets, and she has very different markings. She is nearly identical to the mother cat.
One last footnote: In the area we took the cats in from, an un-neutered bengal male had allegedly escaped. The other two cat from the litter were black/white and black, and their presumed father we saw was also black/white.

Welcome to the forum. The photos are small, but based on what I can see, your kitty has no rosetting or marbling that would be indicative of a bengal. All bengals are tabbies! But not all tabbies are bengals. Without a DNA test, you would not be able to know for sure. There are DNA tests available for cats and it would tell you the percentage of the breeds in the cat. It is always possible for a cat to have some bengal in them -- but one can never know for sure. I think all tabbies are gorgeous kitties. Enjoy your baby.

I concur with both Sherry and yourself. It is possible there is a bit of Bengal in there, but the orange belly and orange/grey body says Tabby to me.

The head shapem, ear set, long legs are where I see maybe some Bengal. The behavior you describe is typical of Bengal.

I had a Bengal/tabby mix for many years who had a classic orange tabby coat, but it showed in his bone structure and personality. He was a very large cat with a doglike personality, didn't like to lapsit, loved water, talked all the time, loved to be around people.
