We have a 9 month old kitten (Gracie), and we are putting her in a cattery for the first time in September while we have a week away. I'm getting a bit anxious as to how she will feel. Will she think we are giving her away or abandoning her. I would like some comments of reassurance form forumers if poss. I know the first time will be the worst cos if we put her in again sometime at least she will remember where she is

I'm very fortunate in that my mum comes to stay to look after my two if I go away. However, I would suggest that when you take her to the Cat Hotel, you leave her with a worn piece of your clothing, a sweat shirt or something that has your scent on it. It should give her some comfort to have your scent around.

Hopefully the cattery will give you updates whilst you're away to stop you worrying about her as well.

I really believe your kitty will be fine. I board mine at our vet where he is familiar with the people there. Definitely bring a favorite toy or blanket. I don't do that with mine, but maybe your baby will need it. Our vet has three level kitty condos and it's in a soundproof room so the barking dogs do not bother the cats. They also have a cat tree in a separate room that the kitty can enjoy some playtime with an employee.
