Extremely Vocal Cat

So my roommate has had his bengal for over 4 years. We all have been living in the same spot for just over 2 years. Now this cat does not shut up, my roommate gets home and it meows for hours. My roommate does nothing about this saying he will stop eventually. But that eventually ends up being 2 hours later. Anything that wakes the cat in the middle of the night sets it off for hours as well.

Seeing as this cat is over 4 years old I am assuming it is past the age where he will "out grow" meowing all the time. Is there anything that can be done????

Welcome to our forum.

The cat is probably trying to tell you that he needs to play.

Get him a Da Bird, make friends and play with him till he doesn't have the energy to be vocal anymore.

This is one of the first questions I had, because my cat would constantly talk - meow, chirp, trill, mumble. But I was told this is definitely a Bengal trait. They are talkers! (Which is a bit strange when you think about it, this would not help them in the wild at all)

Did your roommate not know that bengals are vocal? And by vocal, it does not mean talking nice. It means yowling -- and I have one of those who will turn 10 years old tomorrow. When he sets his mind to it, he won't shut up. Usually it is because he wants something: his daily walks, tummy tickles, food, treats, play time. It is as if he needs attention 24/7. That's just the way a bengal is. Your roommate needs to determine what it is the bengal wants. It's one of the above things I mentioned!!!

It's great if you can ignore it. But, I know the neighbors can hear him. And it totally gets on my husband's nerves (who is home 24/7 recovering from major shoulder surgery). I cannot resist when Raiden comes to me crying and then rolls over on his back, exposing his belly. And he does need his play time. And it's on his schedule as I'm always doing something around the house. In the mornings and afternoons, he knows it's time for a walk and he lets me know it. Thankfully, he sleeps through the night. Right now he's on the table in front of an open window enjoying the breeze. We just got back from our morning walk and he's happy and will be quiet for a few minutes. LOL
