With male's, if you don't get them "done" before this starts then they may always do it - not sure if the same applies to females...

We have a girl that sprays but she only sprays when she's 'calling' or about to come into call. At all other times she's she uses the litter tray as normal. You may be lucky and find that once she's had her op (and thus has no urge to call) she we go back to using the litter tray.

Gavin is right though; with boys it can be difficult to get them to stop once they have got into the habit.
