We have some big news - I've known about this for a while and hence not been as active on the forum as I'd perhaps have liked. Now it's official, time to share - I've been offered a transfer with the company I work for to Canada, to which I'm going to accept

It was a hard decision to leave family and friends behind, but hope that it will offer the best opportunity for Isaac and our future kids.

We've yet to decide what to do with Zeus and Hestia. We realise that air travel for cats, certainly ones from the UK isn't a problem. However, we're concerned about the more social side of things - finding somewhere to rent which will allow pets and having to put them into a cattery often for any trips back home or holidays. The options are we leave them here (with my parents) until we have the opportunity to take them over or we consider re-homing them  . We appreciate that taking on pets are a big responsibility and had we known that we would have this opportunity, we would have thought twice about getting them in the first place, but hindsight is a wonderful thing.....

Congratulations on the new job Gavin - it sounds like a fantastic opportunity and Canada is a beautiful country from what I've heard. When do you make the big move?

Good to hear you finally decided to take the plunge, you be silly not to really as you know its a much better economic climate to be in and you'll have the added advantage of cheaper house prices etcand best of all it will be a brilliant place for you & the kids to live in... And of course you will have the opprtunity to potentially have some wonderfull american furlings..

Cheers jim

congrats on the decision! and welcome to Canada :D which province are you moving to? if renting most dwellings will allow pets, some are more restricted than others. When we were looking, we found most of the newer condo buildings didnt allow pets unless you owned the condo. But we finally found one that said cats were allowed but no dogs probably b/c dogs bark and cats dont do much. Good luck on your housing hunt, hope to see you if moving to ontario

When looking for a place in southern Ontario I've neeeever run into a place that didn't accept cats. From what I've read here its pretty hard to get a place in the uk, but in pretty much every apartment building here theres cats allowed, and dogs too, but cats more often than dogs :P
