Does anyone else experience this?

Every single evening without fail as soon as we sit down to our evening meal our two are in the little tray doing their business!

It really is off-putting lol.

I am sure they do it on purpose!

Oh yes - not so much dinner time, but timed for me sitting down with a cuppa and a biscuit when I get home from work.

Little stinkers!

Oh you poor people! LOL. Raiden usually expends his urine while on our walks as he is marking everything -- bushes, power poles, garbage cans, fences, etc. Many days, he will do his one poop of the day at the park in a pile of leaves! That way, his litter box stays clean! I may have to scoop two times a day.

This thread has reminded me about a previous cat that we had - Jasmine.

It was bonfire night at my parent's place - my brother was still living there and invited a whole bunch of dreadful people over for a party. Later on it started raining quite heavily and everyone came inside. Jasmine used to sleep in, and had a litter tray in, the hallway, where everyone had congregated. Cool as a cucumber she sauntered through the crowd like she owned the place, walked up to the litter tray, balanced her hind legs on the edges of the tray, looked everyone square in the eye and ... said in deeds what I had wanted to say in words all night :-)

She cleared the place! ( and got treats and cuddles off me for doing so ).

Totally. Link seems to only want to go #2 when I'm close by. He has a funny habit of waiting until the second after I clean his litter box to go to the bathroom as well lol. Gotta love em'

Cranberry, how nice and subtle! LOL

Sc0tt, we know cats are notorious for doing just that. The litter box cannot stay pristine for more than 30 seconds.

Mine don't do that, however they sometimes attract my attention in a different way. On a few occasions they would poop in the litter boxes and then would be so energetic in burying it that half the contents of the box, including the poo of course, would come flying out of the box and onto the floor. They would then sniff around the box and couldnt be happier at a job well done.

Ha ha well done Jasmine!

My two have two very large litter trays which take some cleaning out and the minute I put them back down they are in them doing their business.

I imagine it's some sort of scent/territorial thing as I am sure they don't want to 'go' at that particular moment every time lol.

Raiden digs a deep hole, then proceeds to step in the hole and drop the poop on the pile of litter. Many times, the stools run down to his feet! Then he spends 5 minutes covering it all up. If I hear him digging, I wait and watch -- which he may not like, but I don't care. Then I shoo him out of the box, cover it up and immediately pick it up and put it in the litter genie.

Sherry, I do that too sometimes as they both make such a mess kicking the cat litter everywhere.

One funny thing I've noticed with Oscar is that if he notices Jasper doing a number 2 he will jump in and cover it up for him!

all carefully planned strategies to keep us on our toes
