- The monsters and I are going to my mum's in the UK for 3 weeks over Christmas, so I've just sent her a little card as a reminder....

This on the front:

Then a little ditty ( to the tune of Santa Claus Is Coming To Town ) ....

I think ( hope ) that she'll appreciate the gentle reminder to Bengal-proof the house. ;-)

Oh I will do - it seems ages since I was back, actually it was early October.

Thursday is dedicated ( after getting off the boat and a couple of hour drive home ) to a trip to Whitby for Fish and chips - I really can't wait.

I think you need to put a PS on the bottom of your card - "Be afraid........be very afraid" Please remind Ada that her name is NOT Basil and she is NOT a Maine Coon!!!! :lol:

Cranberry - do you drive all the way with two loud meowing bengals in the car?! My goodness if there was ever a need for earplugs! :eek:

I live about an hour away from the port in Holland and 2 hours drive from the port in the UK.

What can I say- they are amazingly well behaved when travelling - I get a miaow or 3 in the first couple of minutes of setting off, then they settle down and snooze the rest of the way. The hard part for them is on the ferry when I'm not around and they could be surrounded by other cats, or at Christmas, dogs. They spend the night tucked up together in their carry case ( with a spray or two of Feliway ).

Getting into the car next morning we get a few miaows, sometimes Babbage makes his voice heard for a few minutes regarding the unfairness of the whole escapade then silence. When they get to my mum's they take all of 9.7 seconds to settle in and make themselves at home. :-)

Then they start looking for interesting ornaments :biggrin:

Gosh, Cranberry, you certainly have a trek to Grandma's house with the little ones. Are they separated from you on the ferry? I don't think I could do that to Raiden. He would have to be at my side every step of the way. Have a lovely Holiday with your family.

They are apart from me on the ferry from about 6pm till 9am, with a quick check around 10pm just to see if they are OK. They are kept in a cattery/kennels as they aren't allowed in the passenger accommodation.

I didn't get cats for a number of years partly due to the fact that I go back and forth across the North Sea a few times a year, but a friend explained how he drives his cat down to Italy each summer without any problems - I took his advice - start as early as possible and they'll get used to it. Ada and Babbage were about 5 months old when we first did the journey, this will be their 5th journey.

It's great they have a special kennel area. I recall the QE2 had a similar accommodation for the pets. I just would hate for Raiden to be away from me. He would cry constantly -- no, he would HOWL constantly. He can be louder than a dog. It's great that they are now used to this voyage with you. I'm guessing it's the same travel on the way back. I love it when owners take their babies with them. I guess bengals can be great little travelers once they get used to it.

We are here.

They had an OK journey, but Ada was bit spooked because there were a lot of yappy dogs in the kennels next door. Everything here has been sniffed, twice. Some bits of Christmas decoration have been given an experimental nibble - Basil has decided he'd rather be outside than dealing with the monsters.

Right, time for fish and chips in Whitby :-))))
