Mine are only kittens but they have a routine of play in the morning and early afternoon and then naptime for hours then kick off big time around 8pm!

They are often still running around and playing when I want to get off to bed around 10-11pm!

Once they go into the kitchen where they sleep they quieten down.

It's been the same routine since we've had them.

When I am home and especially when I am trying to concentrate on something.

In the mornings pre and post breakfast, but more so in the evenings when I come home from work - that's proper zoomies time. They'll run around until they get something to eat, refuel and run around again. They'll settle down for an hour or two - generally on my lap. Then when I go to bed, Babbage gets scooped up in my arms and carried to his room. Ada will play a game called "Ahhh, but you'll have to catch me first" She'll run off and evade capture by me for as long as possible knowing that she'll get carried to the room when she is caught.

Raiden doesn't have a schedule. When he wants to play, he comes to me and cries. I say, "what do you want?" He walks toward the bedroom. I follow him. He sits down next to his TNR wrestling buddy or maybe a toy I left laying on the carpet and that means, "I want some play time." It can happen several times a day or there can be days when he isn't interested a single time! His favorite time to play is right before we go to bed. We wear him out, but now we are hyped up and can't fall asleep!

Exactly this too!

This morning for example had report I had to write that took me most of the day.

I had piles of paper everywhere but an organised mess. It quickly became a great game to jump on the table and scatter them everywhere diving on and off the table. This went on all day and they even for the very first time chased each other up the curtains.

I am certain they would have just done their usual routine of play in the morning and then long nap if I hadn't been ignoring them.
They were so naughty!

What is it with cats when they do that?! It got me thinking and I'm wondering if it's in fact my change of routine that somehow unsettles them and sends them stir crazy!

I could have just put them in the kitchen but would have felt guilty locking them away little devils

My two play in the morning, early evening and before bedtime.

They also want to play when I am busy doing something, like this weekend when I have been making gingerbread men and granola. I finally put them on the patio and shut the door. They love it out there but when I shut the door, Blondie stands on the other side waiting to come in. Then she wants to help with everything I do, mostly playing and touching everything. She totally ignores me when I tell her, NO, stop that. I guess she is trying to get my attention.

I really tempted fate yesterday afternoon posting my answer above. The little... munchkins were waiting for me last night when I got home at 18:30 and had an amazing amount of energy - they played with me and together until after 22:00 when they finally decided it was time for tummy rubs and a snooze. It was like they were kittens again.

Tonight I am off to the pub, so will only see them for 20 mins in between work and going out again- this means extra-zoomie Zoomies when I come home later on in a "relaxed" state. :-)

Cranberry - Good luck playing with your 2 bengal ninjas in a 'relaxed state' I would only attempt this task if my reflexes were not in any way reduced

If I had two kitties, I would expect them to play themselves out and I would just get to watch and enjoy.

It doesn't always work that way Sherry.

It really should though.
