For some reason when my bengal is super happy usually when I am brushing him or petting him and he is purring up a storm and kneading he puffed up his tail fur. I've loved on many cats and have never seen one do this. I was wondering if it was a bengal thing or just a Mosi thing!

I have not seen that in that circumstance, but young cats seem to puff up their tales pretty frequently when just goofing around. They are basically practicing it for when they need it, is how I interpret it.

The puffed tail is very common. Usually cats puff themselves up to make them look bigger when confronted by another cat or creature! Raiden used to do it all the time when he saw a neighbor's cat (they moved away last year). The tail gets gigantic!

He is around 2 years old and only does it when he is super happy... so it's a Mosi thing... hahaha

On our walk this morning, a dog got out of a house and came running up to Raiden. His tail puffed up really huge. The dog did nothing to us and I picked Raiden up and carried him a ways. The tail was still puffed when we got into the house. He doesn't seem to like being scared by a dog and this one was a pretty big dog. Raiden has also encountered a little boxer and he attacked that one.

My Suri puffs her tail up when shes being playful. She will race around with it all fuzzed up. Its obvious shes not scared or anything. Its cute when she does it.

I think kittens do it more when they are playing than as an adult cat.

I've seen it more in Ada and Babbage as kittens, but sometimes when he gets really excited he gets that "I just sat on a battery" fluffed up tail.

Does he also shake a bit on the hind end? That's definitely happy!

Both Phaedra and Lilith puff up their tails when they are goofing around together.
