Hi there.

Brought Rio and Orinoco (still deciding on names although I really like Jasper for one of them!) home yesterday evening.

Within a couple of hours we had all had a cuddle before they retreated under the coffee table.

We've all had loads of cuddles this morning. They are both extremely affectionate and very purry.

Rio (the one with half an ear) is much smaller than Orinoco and the more skittish of the two although he seems to have bonded very strongly with me already and is such a baby when you hold him.

I do wonder if his damaged ear has something to do with why he is less confident and also smaller or maybe kittens are just naturally different sizes?

They both adore cuddles which is so great. Orinoco gets quite carried away and gives little loving nips lol. He rolls around all over me, shoulder head everywhere lol.

Will get some photos once they've settled in a bit more as any sudden movements sends them into hiding.

That sounds like an excellent start - you've got 2 very affectionate kittens.

Cranberry, I know I'm extremely lucky as you usually get one who is a bit more stand offish than the other but the are both complete and utter purr machines.

I'll have to be careful as they are both bonding very strongly with me and I don't want ds and dh to feel left out. I don't know if cats just naturally bond with women easier than men?

Maybe it's our sweet sounding voices

Men tend to have louder voices, make more sudden movements, clunk about the place and are generally scarier for cats.
Get your men to sit down on the ground, tell them to speak slower and quieter, make gentle slow movements, and let the cats come to them. They should never bend down over the top of the cat in a standing position or make excessive noise to get the cat to come to them, grab the cat or treat it like a dog or a puppy. Some men like to be "in control", and expect the cat to obey, no cat likes that.
Some cats eventually like a rough and tumble, but not all do and some can get scared of men in general due to too rough handling.
As they are just kittens, do not overdo the play, some men are guilty of that to, IME.
Saying all this some men ARE naturals with cats.

Debbie, so happy to hear things are going so well for you and the kitties!!! They are going to love their new home. My hubby talks in a very light, soft voice to Raiden! It's the craziest thing. And Raiden loves him! He gets a nightly massage from his daddy. For some reason, he doesn't like the way I give them! I think most cats will radiate to the one who takes care of them more! I'm the one who gets woken up in the middle of the night, although with the cooler nights, Raiden has been sleeping through the night.
