I have a quick question regarding kitten coats. Pixel is about 3-3.5 months old right now. Her mother was silver and her father was a brown/tan bengal (not sure if they have a name). Next to the other kittens in the litter, Pixel looked way more silver. When we brought her home, we noticed how much brown was really in her coat. My question is will her coat change and turn more silver over time? Or will it look as it does in the photos? It's really hard to take a photo that accurately represents her coloring, but she definitely has some white, silver and brown. I was unsure how much their coats change as they age.

Thanks for any insight!

Usually kittens get the fuzzies. Pixel's coat is gorgeous! It may change over time, but I wouldn't be too concerned that it would be a drastic change. So cute that Pixel and ISO share a bowl of food.

Having a brown bengal with a hint of silver and a silver with a hint of brown, their colouring hasn't changed in the year or so that I have had them, but Pixel will look lovely when she is properly out of the fuzzies.

Ada has always had a brown nose/cheek pads:

I think there may be some change as the cat matures, but it is the SLP that changes continually for two years. My kittens were mostly white and look vastly different at a year and a half. Grace's body is pretty dark charcoal now and Blondie who was mostly white is now brown, cream and tan.

Thanks for the responses everyone!

I really hope her coat doesn't change much. I wanted a silver one and caitlin wanted a brown one, so this is really the best of both worlds for us!

Her pattern is stunning no matter what color she winds up being!

Hi all,

I have another question regarding Pixel's coat.

If you look closely, you can basically see a line in her coat where it shifts from what appears to be silver, to orange on her face and chest region down to her legs. Has anyone seen this before? Her mother was as silver as they come, and when a very little kitten, she looked like she would turn out to be pure silver.

However, as the days go, I am noticing more orange in her face and chest.

Is this common? Will it change? Just curious. I think she is beautiful, but I've never seen such a stark color change from the face to the rest of the body.

You can really see it here:

Bengal kittens can have some change in their coloring -- but Pixel will be absolutely stunning when she is finished! She will always be lighter than Iso. Pixel is a gorgeous cat with gorgeous markings and the lightness of her pelt just adds to the contrast. You won't be able to the keep the boy bengals away from her. LOL
