Advice and Help Needed

He is still very timid, he wants to play a discern inquisitive but he is so scared, it is going to be along slow journey I think.

He's been through a lot in his short life, being rescued from his breeder etc, be patient, it will absolutely be worth it. Do you have any feliway plug-ins? May help him relax a little. Might be worth speaking to your vet to see if there is any other advice or assistance to help him destress.

As long as he is eating, drinking and using his litter tray that is all positive, and it is still very early days.

There are other people here with rescue bengals who I am sure will be able to offer you help and advice as well.

What toys do you have when you try to engage him in play? Have you worked out what treats he really likes and can't resist? My two love Thrive treats, freeze dried meat, no other additives so healthy as well.

Hi Clare I will look to get some fellway plug ins today, toys wise the only thing he seems interested in is the wand of flying bird. I have held my hand out to him to sniff and take food, he isn't ready for that yet so I will continue to be patient with him. I have started leaving the door to his room ajar to see if he is inquisitive - he is so I wil let you know if he explores. He is s lovely cat just shy, timid and unsure at the moment.

Oh he is lovely. He looks very inquisitive in that photo! It's so hard to be patient but the rewards will be worth it. Oscar was full of confidence from day one but that had problems of it's own ie he was slightly aggressive and trying to dominate us. I cannot tell you what a difference a year makes. he came to us on 24 October last year and he is sitting on my lap as I am typing this purring so loudly I cannot hear myself think! One day at a time and Ben will let you know when he is ready. Feliway a very good idea

He's beautiful! You'll get there, he looks very alert so once he comes out of his shell, I think you will know about it and he'll be giving you the run around!

Ben is quite a handsome boy! Can't help but fall in love with him. Hang in there -- that's all I can say. It is going to take some time, but it will be so worth it in the end. I'm hoping you're seeing an improvement daily. That he'll venture out a little more each day. Keep trying with the treats from the hand. Once he takes one -- then there is no stopping him.

Some progress - he played well last night and this morning so we left his door open. He came out a few times and explored and this morning he went downstairs and sniffed around the hallway.

As a dog lover and not a self confessed cat person I can't tell you how much I love little Ben, we had friends round last night for dinner and j kept disappearing upstairs to check on him and play - proper got the mickey taken out of me lol.

My friends also take the mickey when I speak to Oscar in my baby voice. I know it's sad but I just can't help it! So glad Ben has started to show more confidence.

Good to hear he is starting to settle in a bit! They are 'dog cats' anyway, so the best of both worlds! Hendrix plays fetch and they both follow me around for at least an hour when I get home from work, 'help' me put the rubbish out etc, they love being with you and getting involved with anything you are doing.

I get mocked too as I can't stop talking about them and their little quirks - you are not alone lol

"The Mickey" must be a UK term that I'm not familiar with! I'm so happy you adore Ben. It's hard not to. Sounds like he is getting more and more comfortable. Exploring is the first sign! Look at the improvement you've seen since you brought him home. It may look like baby steps but when you look back and see the enormous difference in a few weeks, you'll see that he's grown by leaps and bounds in more ways than one.

Well Ben has explored the house thoroughly and soon we will relocate his tower to the living room downstairs however he is so timid and will not allow you to touch him which is heart breaking. Id love to be able to strike him and pick him up but I fear he will not ever be that type of cat :-(
