He has eaten, I sliced some beef and put a few pieces just inside his box then placed some in his bowl with some mince and it is all gone. Heis still inside his box hiding but I'm just glad he has eaten food. I'm building his climbing tower now for him.

By all means put the cat tower in the room. Aww, poor Ben! He's acting quite normal. Usually they will hide the first couple of days and then slowly start coming out. Your wife needs to be in the room, sitting on the floor, talking to him. He'll get used to her and her voice. I know she's anxious to grab a hold of him and love on him, but Ben needs to work at his own pace and everyone needs to be patient. You will have many years with Ben ... so the first week or so, is a challenge. Patience is the main thing. He will come around. Your wife can always try and lure him out of the box with a toy! When Ben is ready, he will join the family. Happy he's eating okay.

Ben seems to eat raw meat fine, so far he has enjoyed beef and turkey, my question is, how much food should we feed him?

Feed him all that he wants. He is a growing kitten.

A very good evening with Ben today, he came out of his box and played energetically chasing a stick. He very nearly took food from my hand and he loves his cat tower. I would like to know how much food to give him on each feed (morning and evening), he seems keen on raw meet so i will explore the options available in that area. Any tips on feeding would be most welcome - thanks.

Young kittens have small stomachs, I'd try 25g portions or there abouts to start with, anywhere from 4-6 times a day if possible. You could always just put a large bowl down and weigh the left overs to get am idea of his capacity.

You'll get plenty of good advice on raw, from the cat crap fb group if you want to join it.

I'm glad things are going well for you guys! I'm sorry I don't have specific feeding advice, but it's great that he's beginning to come out of his shell.

Ben needs to eat several times a day -- just like a new baby! If you plan to feed him a raw diet, please read up on that information so you can make sure he's getting all the nutrients -- like calcium (from bones) and taurine (from the organs like liver, kidney, heart). You can also buy supplements that will provide those necessary nutrients, but raw can give him all he needs if you feed him everything from the animal.

Happy to hear he's enjoying his cat tower and likes to play. You'll see an amazing difference in him in just a few days.

A bit of regress today, Ben wasn't as playful and looked very sad inside one of the covered areas of the tower. He did come out for a short while but soon retreated back to his new found hidey hole. He sniffed my legs ad I was sat on the ground but is very very wary - it's so sad to see. Hopefully he will get better. How long do you think we should confine him to his safe room before opening up the rest of the house to him?

I would keep him in the safe room until he feels confident with you guys and is not hiding all the time. He needs that confidence to explore the rest of the house

Some kitties want to leave their safe room almost immediately, but for the shy kitty, I'd let him go at his own pace. At some point, you can leave the door open for him and he can explore if he wants. Every day is a challenge for Ben and some days will be better than others. It's only been a few days. Hang in there and continue to be patient.

I think when they are trying to escape the room, they are ready to explore further.

How have the last couple of days been? I hope he's starting to settle and be more confident. It's a big change for him though, so will take a while.
