Jonesy likes chicken layer mash

I make breakfast mash for my chickens, starting with hot water over layer mash, then I add other leftovers like bread, cooked rice, cat food not eaten through the previous night, vegetable scraps etc. When I put it into dishes outside, I leave the spoon out and Jonesy rushes towards it and licks it clean. At first, I thought it was his cat food that was enticing him, but it happens even if there is no cat food to put into it. He licks up the layer mash which is wheat, millet, cracked corn, calcium etc. I figure he eats so little of it, it's nothing to worry about. His sister, Ripley tried it once, following his example, but can't see what the fuss is about and hasn't bothered since.

Neither of them are at all food-obsessed (which is a great blessing at dinner time....). They eat well but don't go crazy when the food goes down. However, they do love cooked chicken, which they only get as little treats with clicker training, or when I have a pill to get down them. Works every time!

What else have others found their cat likes, inexplicably?

Fried eggs, sweet potatoes baked with chicken and maple syrup, and coconut oil.
I don't let him have more than a lick of anything, but Maxwell will climb me for coconut oil. Weirdo.

I've only tried to get Raiden to eat Cheetos. He sniffs but doesn't like them. I'm a Cheeto freak!

Quasar is not very food motivated. He enjoys his raw duck.
However, he likes to assist in cleaning up after our Samoyed dog, big white hairy Kyenta, who is constantly shedding on the carpet. I have to be sure to pick up as much dog hair as I see or Q will eat it.

Deli Meat, cheese, and popcorn. All 3 are my fault as well. If I am making a sandwich I will toss them a slice torn up and sometimes some cheese. The popcorn I think they like the oil that is on it from cooking it. I never give them more then a piece each since it creates a mess.

The odd thing is for cat treats my Bengal will only eat the soft ones. I buy some grain free meat ones. My other cat she will not touch those but loves the dry crunchy treats.

Its been tough finding cat food that both will eat as well. For wet stuff the Bengal likes the shredded meat type, but my other just likes it so so. She prefers the pate kind. Since she's only 4 pounds I do get what the Bengal likes since she's a 14pounder and most of the food she consumes.

Mine loves mayonnaise....

Whenever I make tuna, he goes after the mayonnaise over the tuna!! I think it is so weird.. He knows what the mayo jar looks like, and will jump onto the table from anywhere in the house to steal a lick... there is no eating mayo in this house in peace!!

Bread and Cheerios... strangest thing. There's so many other yummy human foods to like to eat... can't leave any bread laying around ever. When I bring groceries in, I have to make sure I take the bread out of the bag and put it in the cabinet on the highest shelf and close the cabinet door before I bring any more groceries in, or the bread will be half eaten on the floor. It happens that fast!

And with cheerios... well this is basically how it goes: http://themetapicture.com/how-people-with-a-cat-eat/

Thought you'd all enjoy that little comic  . I was laughing hysterically aloud!

Spike likes to eat feathers from the pillows and cardboard. At least he usually spits the cardboard out- then scatters it all over the room.

They both will attack anything bread. None of it can be reachable, otherwise it will be in chunks all over the floor- plastic included.

Baked goods. Bread, english muffins, bagels etc. I had a big, heavy ceramic breadbox that I stored those types of things in. If the plastic wrap stuck out through the lid at all, they would somehow use that to pry the lid open and take bites out of everything in the bread box. One or two bites of each thing in the box is their normal method of operation. I started getting real careful about that, making sure everything was carefully tucked into the box, but they eventually managed to knock the breadbox off the counter onto the floor, shattering it

August likes to eat scrambled eggs when I make them. I usually give her a small dish when I have them.
