My view on the latest purchase for the two nutters.

In all honesty, it looked too good to be true and it is. If your cat likes to walk very quickly then this wheel is a bargain and its great...but, if your cat likes to run at full chat then this wheel is absolutely no good. I've had it a couple of weeks now and it's derailed five or six times and it's now getting to a point where they won't run on it anymore which is shame because it's hilarious to watch.

The design of the wheel itself is a genius idea, a packaging marvel. And despite what I've read it's a doddle to put together as long as you take your time, there are only two different pieces used to build the wheel so it's pretty hard to stuff it up. The base on the other hand is far too flimsy and has far too much flex in it for the weight and inertia generated by an average sized cat (4kg). As soon as she starts galloping on it the flex creates a pendulum effect at the top of the wheel that increases until it jumps out. The basic design is sound but the base needs a lot of refining in my opinion before any sized cat can gallop on it.

I've had the One Fast Cat wheel since January. Raiden has just now started running at full speed on it. I've had no problems whatsoever with this. I hope you've addressed your situation with Sean, the owner. I've also watched countless videos of cats running on this -- multiple cats and have never seen any problems. One member here did have an issue with her cat getting its paws stuck in the wheels and Sean addressed that with a plate that fits around the wheels.

I have indeed addressed it with Sean but I'm still waiting for a response.

Can you please post a link of a cat running on the wheel because I haven't seen one. And by running I mean flat out galloping like a cheetah because that's what she's trying to do. It derailed again this morning so I've taken it out of play.

I have no problem with paws getting caught because the wheels are so low, she won't be grabbing the side of the wheel that far down.

There are quite a few on the companies FaceBook page, I was just watching some this morning.

If Raiden is running at full speed are you getting any wobble? I just cannot see how that base design held together with a single piece of box section can withstand that kind of pounding when the wheel is rotating at 20+ mph. I'm hoping it can be cured somehow.

Hi Donna , I had a look at the first 30 vids and no cat was running at full speed. Can you tell me the date one of these vids was uploaded? Cheers :)

This one is from April 10

A lot of them are posted by users so they're not showing up in the Videos list. I'm trying to go through the "posts to page" to find them but the video player keeps locking up on me :(

I know I've seen several cats running at a full tilt on the wheel with no issues.

Thanks Donna,

She's running more like the last one and that wheel moving all over the shop! Amber-lee has been in touch with a couple of things to try but I'm not holding much hope. I've ordered a set of half decent roller blade wheels as the ones that came with it aren't 100% round.

I so want to like this wheel because it's a great idea but not if it's going to derail at the first sign of a sprint.

I hope you can get it figured out. If she's running like that she must like the wheel and it would be a shame to have to take it away.

One Fast Cat Wheel's Facebook page posts a lot of the videos. Raiden was on his wheel five times yesterday. I've been meaning to catch a video of him running like that. The only one I took was when he first got on there and he was just "walking" on it. He literally goes halfway up the wheel when he is running full speed on it. The wheel doesn't appear to wobble at all. I got one of the early models from the Kickstarter campaign and I know there were molds that had to be redone.

I have seen cats really running on the wheel. Something is out of balance on yours. Raiden's wheel feels extremely sturdy sitting on the base wheels. I don't know how fast Raiden runs on the wheel, but he gets up some speed.
