Hi guys!

Please help! I have been searching for name ideas for our latest baby who we will be bringing home a week on Saturday. He is a melanistic Bengal, I think he wil be quite a big lad, cheeky in character.

I already have a bit of a zoo... our eldest brown spotted girl is called Meili - I choose this as its meaning is beautiful - (and that she certainly is!) My other Bengal of 15 months is a seal lynx called Chester - he is the naughtiest pet I have ever owned (or known) but he stole my heart from first glance and has had a firm hold of it ever since! (This name we chose purely for the sound of it and that I think it suites his cheeky chappy sort of character) My previous, sadly missed boy was a silver spotted called Harley.

Any name suggestions would be greatly appreciated ...

Here are a couple of pics - the first at 4 weeks and the second at around 8weeks xx

Thanks in advance xx

I always suggest you get the little one home (he's gorgeous, by the way) and observe him for a day or two! A great name will come to you and that's what you'll call him. Don't be in such a big rush .... you can surf names on the internet and come up with a million more than we could here.

I am so sorry about Harley!

Gorgeous kitten and Bagheera gets my vote! Apparently it means 'black tiger' in Hindi - one of my neighbours always refers to our two as tiger cats.

He is adorable!

I'm with Sherry, he will tell you what his name is supposed to be. We had 3 or 4 names for Diesel before we picked one. I tried them all but that was the one that stuck.

I had a stray moggie find me and I couldn't figure out what to name him. One day I was just looking at how gigantic he was and he was black and white and I simply came up with Bear! My Raiden came with that name from his previous owner and I didn't want to change it!

There are a million names -- but the best name is one that fits the personality of the cat -- not just the coloring! Raiden's mythical name means "Japanese God of Thunder" and it fits him perfectly as he's loud when he cries!!! And he doesn't stop crying until he gets his way. I didn't name him, but it's the perfect name for him.

I always like giving my cats names from the start. A cat deserves to be called a name rather than "hey you" on his first day home. Plus if you tell the breeder the name, you can get a jump on his familiarity with the name, and also register him for pet insurance before they get to stick you with potential "pre-existing conditions"

Anyway... So many cool possibilities for black cats:

lucifer
midnight
boogie
shadow
coco
mocha
dracula (drac for short)
ninja

etc.

Have fun!

I've named a black cat in Neko Astume "Boogar." There's also "Blackie" and "Ebony."
