Hi, first time on here but after some advice. We have an amazing, happy, energetic and healthy Bengal however he is often sick straight after eating. When we got him 18 months ago it took as a long time to find a food he would eat. Once we did every thing was fine but he has recently started been sick quite regularly after his breakfast. He eats very fast and the vet has said it is simply because he is a 'greedy Bengal' but how can I slow his eating down to try and prevent him vomiting.

Any advice would be much appeared, Charlie is amazing I just hate him feeling under the weather on a morning :(

First of all, welcome to the forum. What I'm giving you is just an opinion here. Does the vomiting happen only after breakfast when Charlie hasn't eaten in several hours? Does it happen every single morning? And how long has this been going on? Days, weeks, months?

I would first of all, had the vet run some tests just to make sure this isn't a medical problem. If the vet simply thinks that Charlie is eating too fast (and some cats do that), I would recommend a much smaller portion for breakfast. Give that small amount some time to digest and then feed another small portion to him again a couple hours later. Charlie may not like that ... but I would try that for a few days and see if it improves the situation.

Or, you can do what I do -- my cat wakes me up in the middle of the night for food and I get up and open a can and feed him. I know many people like to have their kitties on feeding schedules -- 3 times a day and no more. If it's been 10 to 12 hours since Charlie has eaten, then a bedtime meal might be in order, too. Sounds as if his tummy is empty and he's really famished.

Jagger is prone to this as well - he literally inhales the food and then promptly throws it all back up again. I make a point of giving him his food in small portions in the morning so he can't gobble it all down in seconds and then regurgitate it.

Does he have dry left down for him over night? Jagger is usually okay the nights there is dry food left in his bowl that he can nibble at during the night if he wakes up hungry so he isn't totally starving by morning. It's also worth keeping some of his food back and feeding him just before bed to tide him over until morning. I give mine a bit of supper about 7.30pm.
