does nose color change as a cat ages?

I have two SLP that are sisters. One was born with a brick colored nose. The other one was born with a charcoal colored nose. The past few months, the charcoal nose has gotten lighter in the center and is starting to change colors. It looks like it is a dark brick color. Her nose is moist and soft and overall healthy looking. Has anyone else had a nose color go from dark to lighter as the cat ages? They are about 13 months old and the nose color has been shifting very slowly for about 3 months now. I attached a photo, but it doesn't show so well in a photo. I will try to take one up close in the light.

What I've read about charcoals is that their characteristics change over time. You have a light charcoal, so the face may get lighter as the cat matures. Here are some pictures and details about charcoals:

Thanks Sherry, that was interesting. Both my cats continue to darken and change weekly, ever so slightly. I take photos of them pretty often and it is fascinating to watch the changes over time.

Your kitties seem so well adjusted as well. I haven't actually studied the charcoals and the cape thing, but supposedly the mask and cape can develop as the cats get older or can change in appearance over time. I find it fascinating that the charcoals can do that, when the other types of bengals can't.

I took a close up of Grace's nose yesterday. It still looks lighter in real life, but it was dark charcoal almost black when she was a kitten. The center is turning brick colored like her sister's nose.

Diesel's nose was dark when we brought him home and now it looks like Grace's.

Quasar's nose was brick red as a kitten. About a year ago, he developed one black freckle. I thought it was dirt at first but it seems to be sticking around. :smile:
