I bought a cat wheel from One Fast Cat. I’m deeply concerned about safety due to my experiences. Below is my review of this product. Please feel free to share with your cat friends:

Last fall I ordered a wheel. I wasn’t part of the kickstarter, but a regular order. I waited months to get my wheel. Since they don’t ship to my state, once it was ready, I had to have it shipped to a friend and I then paid shipping costs for her.

It wasn’t easy to put together, but I was able to, using a heavy rubber mallet. I checked and rechecked each piece. Once it was completed, I laid it out flat and checked for any warp, turned it on the other side and did the same. I tested it by spinning the wheel on its base and looking for any wobble. There was none.

On two occasions, my little nine pound cat de-railed the wheel from the base. She wasn’t hurt, but it worried me. Then she recently jumped from the wheel while it was still spinning and batted at the small track wheel. Her foot got pulled in between the running wheel and the small track wheel. The running wheel is quite heavy, making this a very dangerous situation. There is nothing to prevent one’s cat from getting his or her foot or tail run over.

When I contacted the company they blamed me for the de-railing, saying I had put the wheel together wrong. I had not, I took extreme care in assembly, watching the video as I went. I know I’m not the only one this has happened to; I’ve seen another complaint on Facebook. They refused to even respond to my concerns about the potential for entrapment of feet or tail in between the running wheel and the track wheel. I brought it up several times with no response to that concern.

This wheel seemed like a good idea, but it is unsafe and the company seems unconcerned. I regret the time and money I put into this, and I fear for the safety of customers’ cats and small children.

I hear ya. It was pretty challenging to assemble for me, but I kept watching the videos and finally got it together. I also used the rubber mallet. Mine derails with my 10.5 pound cat. She is the only one that uses it. I don't feel it was worth the money and the many months I had to wait not to mention several pieces were broken when it first arrived so I had to wait for replacement parts. I don't push my cats to use it because I question its safety. I just chalk it up to another failed cat toy.

I was part of the Kickstarter campaign on this. My husband put the wheel together -- mallet in hand. Raiden (13.5 pounds) gets on it about once a day. He walks on it, doesn't run very fast on it, and we've had no problems at all with it. I watched all the videos on their Facebook page waiting for mine to arrive and saw no problems at all with any of them. I am surprised at the response you got from customer service. If there is a real chance of danger to any cat, then it needs to be addressed. This could be something exclusive to a few of the wheels.

I'm sorry your experience with the wheel was not good and happy your cat wasn't severely injured! I'm very pleased with Raiden's wheel and he definitely enjoys walking on it.

There is a real chance of danger with a cat getting its tail caught between the wheel and the Rollerblade wheels on the base. I contacted the company and they refused to make a safety guard - they told me to do it myself. I am so dissatisfied with this company and the wheel is an accident waiting to happen.

Desert Rose! My concerns exactly! This wheel is SO DANGEROUS because there is no safety guard. I, too, contacted the company and they were rude to me. I wanted to return the wheel (I got it 5 days ago) and they have NO RETURN POLICY for used wheels! I'm more concerned about the safety of cats than I am about a refund. They told me I should modify my wheel myself if I think it's a concern. A cat's tail can become crushed or even severed by the Rollerblades. The word needs to get out about this wheel. All they care about is the profits rolling in. They care nothing about the safety of the cats.

Yikes! We purchased one for our girl and she is afraid of it. Maybe I should be happy. Makes me sad though, that the company isn't addressing these concerns because in the long run, everyone loses!

We'll continue to give it another try.

She's head over heels in love with Da Bird and a Jackson Galaxy toy called Ground Play Wand. Thankfully, we've found toys that she adores! Another out there who knows of other toys, please chime in!

I broke out a new Da Bird this week. They don't last long because my cats bite the cord off. Anyway, when I engage Grace in play, she opens her mouth and darts her tongue in and out, sort of like panting. She doesn't do this with any other toy, just Da Bird. It stats happening after 10 or 15 minutes of hard play.

Mine still won't play with the toy on the end. He wants to chase the other end of the wand. My hubby can sometimes get him going with Da Bird, but I can't. Now I have some wands without toys and just use those. I don't have to hold the string and toy in my hand while he runs around chasing a wand.

Raiden puts nothing in his mouth! He has mice toys, balls. I saw him pick up a pineapple toy once and immediately drop it. I just don't think his previous owner played with him. Raiden craves play, but not like a normal cat. He won't chase anything through the air unless he finds a bug flying outside. I go with what he wants and it's not very much fun for me ... and I'm not sure it's much fun for him. It's hard to catch a wand.
