I am thinking of having a cat enclosure in the back garden for my two indoor bengals and am wondering if anyone has any tips or advise please?

Do you have a fence around your yard? If so, you might want to give an electric fence a try. We put it on our backyard fence (ran it first across the bottom of the fence, and back across the top). Our 2 bengals and 1 domestic now use and thoroughly enjoy the entire backyard. You can see them "testing" the fence on occassion, but their collars make a low beeping noise before they get too close.

It all depends on what your needs are, and how big or small you want to go, if you want a detached enclosure linked via a tunnel, or something as a 'lean to' onto your house.

I have a screened in patio that my cats absolutely love. My last cat rarely went out there as she was old and preferred to stay inside and sleep mostly. My two young kitties love the patio and spend every minute they can out there. One chases gnats and lizards and the other lays down at the screen door waiting for lizards to enter under the door. I see them darting around out there and watching all the birds and ducks in the lake. They are so happy, and I am so pleased to be sharing my home with these two adventuresome kitties. Getting them to come in for bedtime can be challenging. It seems like night time is the most exciting time of day out there. But once inside they wind down and sleep good through the night. In the morning they are at the foot of my bed waiting for the sunrise and patiently waiting for me to open the door to their paradise.

I think we will go for a large enclosure attached to the back wall of our bungalow.

We would also like to be able to open our windows. Can anyone recommend window mesh?

its a great idea , bengals love a bit of fresh air
We have had ours custom build from ebay and it was much cheaper than companies who build them

We built a 12'x12'x8' high enclosure on our elevated deck. We put a cat door insert in the dining room window and Raiden can access it 24/7. The enclosure has a full security door and is locked. This took us a couple of weekends to get done and Raiden loves it. We used translucent roof panels to keep it dry. If you google "cat enclosure" or "catio" you will find a lot of images and different types. There's something out there for everyone!
