bunch of bullsh*t.... I guess that most of that owners bought a bengal just 'cause looks like a little leopard, but they have no idea how to manage a cat....I'm pretty sure they could have the same problems with any cat....maybe even worse!
I read some of people there....getting a little mate for their bengal...... congrats genius.....You already have a cat with behaviour problems, probably connected with their territory and you put another cat! LoL
Mostly of us are all bengal owners and we all know what's the truth....
Accidents happens and behaviour problems too....but that's the same with any cat....
Goodnight from me and Doris....She's sleeping in my bed after she has done all her stuff in the litter box as usual!

Wow that's crazy. Apparently this little lady curled up in my lap is a crazed wild cat that is going to pee everywhere and attack me

I'd better tell Ada that she's a wild beast.

Probably best to let her finish trying to clean my ear first though, it tickles.

I think a lot of the behavior problems encountered are human error rather than the fault of the cats.

But one interesting thing that this blog stated is the sudden abundance of hybrid kitten showing up in shelters recently. For the last 3 years I subscribed to all local shelters and the local bengal rescue alert too. Around a year ago I started to notice hybrid kittens up for adoption, mostly SLP. When I was ready for new kitties, I looked at all the sites and selected my two females that were mostly white with faint points and categorized as "siamese" transported down to Florida from a kill shelter in Tennessee. As they matured, spots and marble coat emerged along with bengal-like behavior. Their bodies are nothing like a siamese and they have sleek pelt-like coats. I had genetic testing done on one of the two siblings and it came back as SLP mixed breed. She has the CS CS gene and charcoal color gene but no tabby color gene. Anyway, their behavior is nothing like any siamese I have ever lived with. If it had not been for this forum, I would have been in way over my head and very frustrated.

I will never know if they are a result of an accidental cross mating, or from a back yard breeder that did not see potential in the young kitten's markings and dropped them off at a shelter. But I think this is why the shelters are getting these types of kittens in almost weekly. It's kind of sad because people who adopt, don't know what will unfold or how to deal with it.

I think it's also common practice for animal shelters to label the cats as "bengal mix" or "bengal" because they know that will increase their chances of adoption. I have kept an eye on shelters and local rescues and have yet to see a pure breed bengal.

Checking with the Blue Cross (UK national rehoming charity ) there are 4 Bengals listed out of more than 280 available cats.

They usually categorize them as siamese and they look like they might have some snow bengal in them. It is hard to tell with kittens but I see about a half dozed in about a month's time in all the different rescue groups combined. Not a huge number, but until recently I never saw them appear.

http://siamese.rescueme.org/Florida

They also have a bengal rescue page that usually has 3 or more pages of bengal and mix breed bengals. Some are clearly purebred (and beautiful!) and even early generation cats show up from time to time. For some reason that is not the case currently. There was a beautiful bengal yesterday but it is not on the page today. There are only three today and they look like big tabbies. Maybe they have all been adopted out after the holidays. There is a rather active bengal rescue group in Palm Beach, FL that has a lot of activity. They usually post here when a cat becomes available. If you subscribe, they will send you alerts for cats available in the state you select. It's interesting to see the activity. Certain states have more than others.

A bengal may show up every now and then at the shelters here. I don't understand why this website tries to say the bengal is a wild cat. Maybe the EGs, but my bengal is the sweetest kitty I've ever had. The people who adopt a bengal (and I didn't go in search of a bengal, my neighbor had this one and would not keep it inside to prevent the fighting with other cats, so I took him) need to know what they are getting into. The bengal is not your normal domestic cat and it's not a wild cat either. Yes, the bengal cat is gorgeous. You rarely see a cat with spots and such a muscular build. That intrigues some people, but those of us who love cats ... when we make an investment in a pet, we take the good and the bad, and only in extreme cases would we EVER part with a cat. I don't think bengals urinate outside the litter box any more often than any other domestic cat. There have been posts on here on how the bengal breed is getting a bad rap! It shouldn't! 99% of the breeders are great breeders who limit the number of litters their queens have, they socialize the cats in with their families, they inform and screen the buyers to make sure the kitten is going to the right home and most offer to take the bengal back if it's a bad fit!

No cat is perfect -- just like children and I think Raiden more of a child. He tends to get into things he shouldn't because he knows he's caught my attention. He cries for attention. Unfortunately, due the all the ice and sub-freezing temps this week in Nashville, we have been unable to take a walk in almost a week. He's got cabin fever, but I don't want his little paws out there on the slick ice. Even his enclosure had ice from the freezing rain blowing in.

Those of us here who have bengals know the real story! The tone of this blog was angry and if this sanctuary really cared about the animals, that would not be the case. They seem to want the exotic wild animals and the bengal is far from that. When you try to rehome a bengal, it's not as easy. People expect a cat -- one who hides in the corner and sleeps 20 hours a day and only comes out to eat and play. That's not a bengal. They are much more active and social and they want constant love and attention and they want to be where YOU are. Right now Raiden is sleeping in his bed next to his daddy in the living room. Earlier he was up here with me walking all over my computer keyboard. To get him settled down for a nap is like trying to get a two-year old to take a nap.

I didn't notice if this blog accepted comments or not. I may go back and look and post something.
