Hi all, I wonder if any of you knowledgeable people could let me know what you think? I'm sure people ask this kind of thing all the time so apologies but I am curious...
Mittens is 7.5 weeks old and she seems to me to be quite Bengal. The woman we got her from identified her as a Persian Cross (I was looking for a very low-allergy cat) but I'm pretty sure that's not right. Several people have said she looks a bit Bengal Cross-like (although the vet just wrote her up as BSH). I've got more pics if needed and the camera doesn't do justice to her blue eyes! And she doesn't make me sneeze thank goodness.
Thanks!

VERY cute kitten! Unfortunately there isn't going to be any way we can tell you whether it's a bengal cross or not without pedigree information. I suspect that the lady you got your kitten from would have mentioned it having bengal blood if that were the case as bengals are expensive cats and would be a major selling point, even in a cross.

Your kitten has some bengal traits (spotted belly, overall color) from what I can tell, but those are also typical tabby traits. If you have more photos please post them.

What a little doll!! She's absolutely adorable.

Do you have some more pictures of her body markings?

It's really hard to tell from that adorable picture. Do bengals have blue eyes? Not that I know of. The markings resemble a tabby, but then a bengal has a lot of tabby in them, but a tabby may not always have bengal. Gorgeous kitty, love the spotted belly. If you have more pictures to post, that would be great. Include shots from every angle. Congratulations on this beautiful kitty.

Thanks for all the kind comments, she's lovely isn't she. I should explain the circumstances in which she came to us. I was looking for a low allergy cross breed because I'm usually quite allergic (although I grew up with cats), but my wife and son have been wanting a cat for ages. We saw an advert for Persian cross kittens and the breeder was quite near where my parents live, so I asked my mum to drop round and let me know what she thought. When she got there the breeder implied, I think, that it was a bit of a take-her-or-leave-her situation so my mum took the chance and took her home. I think if I had turned out to be really allergic to her my mum would have gladly kept her! So we did pay Persian cross price for her, but I don't see any Persian at all. And since then a few people have asked if she's Bengal cross instead, which looks to me to be a better fit (blue eyes (?), spotty markings, quite pelty fur, very dark paw pads, plus she's incredibly active!). But I'm a total noob, so even if she is just bog-standard moggy I think she's lovely and I'm not allergic to her at all, which was the point of getting a special breed. I'll get some other snaps later when she's showing her markings...

She's so cute would love to see more photos of her no matter what she is!

My Bengal is a Seal Lynx Snow and has blue eyes but Snow Bengals are very pale in colour and they are born white.

Don't Persians have blue eyes? If that was the case it may make more sense that the cross is between a Persian and a Tabby possibly?

All kittens from birth to an early age have blue eyes so that isn't any indication of breed at all. Often changes around 8-12 weeks of age but can take longer!

She doesn't look very bengal like to me, other than having a tabby pattern. I suspect the breeder was not a responsible one so i doubt anything she says is that true. I see no Persian in her at all but a lot of people mistakingly think that pedigree cat = Persian cat. Or any long haired cat is a Persian. Rehoming at 7.5 weeks is completely wrong as they should at least have had 1st vaccinations really. My kittens are not even fully weaned at 7 weeks of age!

Curious as to why a Persian cross would be considered hypoallergenic?? I wouldn't have thought this was the case at all. Some cats seem to cause lower allergies than others but there are always exceptions.

Good luck with your little cutie... the forum is an excellent place to learn about cat health, socialisation and general cat care... not just intended for Bengals..

She really looks like she has Pixie Bob in her. I would go with that but she could be a mixture of any breed really. Beautiful kitten :celebrate:
