When I got my bengal kitten, Kai, he had his own bedroom in our house that he would be put in whenever we left the house. That was 8 hours a day while we were at work and whenever we left any other time. I kept him 100% in his room for the first day (I wanted to keep him in one room for a week and slowly work him into his new environment, but I got too excited and let him out on the second day!).
When I let him explore, I followed him around and let him do it slowly and in his own way.
Once he turned a year old he graduated from his "bedroom" and now he is aloud all over the house all the time. I really think keeping him in his "safe room" gave him a place that he felt was his, and also was a comfort to him. Even when we started leaving him out more often, we found that when we left he would go to his room on his own. Also, when we have a lot of people in and out of the house we can put him in his room and he is totally fine with it--it isn't a punishment to him.
Your bengal will be nervous in this new environment and that is to be expected. My biggest piece of advise, especially since you are giving your kitten a "safe room" would be to make sure you give her LOTS of love and play time when you are home. In Kai's room he had a huge cat tree, food, water, litterbox, but that was mostly it. I didn't leave toys out because he liked to chew and he would eat his toys. I did keep non-edible toys like a ball with a bell in it, a stuffed animal he liked to play fight with, and other toys like that. For the most part, I noticed he just slept and relaxed while I was gone.
I would REALLY recommend purchasing a "Da Bird" cat toy. They make playing together SO MUCH fun! And it is great exercise for your kitten.
Good luck!
