Hello there
New to the forum as I have just become the proud owner of a beautiful little boy called Ziggy, he's about 12 weeks old.
My boyfriend bought him for me as I've always had cats and wanted a kitten for ages - the seller told us he was a Bengal but my boyfriend didn't ask to see his parents, didn't get any paperwork, etc, etc (he's not as organised as me!).

He's very cute, affectionate, vocal, lively, playful and clever and we adore him, I'm just wondering whether anyone on here could tell me whether they think from the pics he is definitely a Bengal.

Hi, congratulations on your new kitty.
It a real shame that your boyfriend didn't ask to see papers and the parents.
Sadly your little bundle of very cute furriness is definitely not a full bengal. You can tell that from his little white socks. Thats not ruling out that he doesn't have any bengal in him, he might have a little. The only way to be sure of a full bengal is by seeing the parents and their registered papers.

Oh that's disappointing to hear that he is not Bengal - we still adore him though! I do hope he has some Bengal in him as his behaviour and characteristics so far seem to tie in with what I've been reading about them and he is really unlike any kitten or cat I've had before.

It is a shame that my boyfriend doesn't know how these things work and didn't ask to see any papers. I am so happy he bought him for me, but now I think about it I'm really cross with the seller!! He cost a lot of money, he hasn't had any of his vaccines yet. I'm really tempted to message the seller but wouldn't know what to say as I didn't see her initial advert and what detail it provided (but I do know that she advertised him as a Bengal kitten).

Oh well, you live and learn and either way we will continue to spoil him rotten!

I'm not surprised you are annoyed. I would email the seller anyway as even though you might not get anywhere at least you will have the knowledge that you tried.

Ask them for papers etc and background information.

Beautiful little kitten who I am sure you adore but he is not a full Bengal.

There is nothing wrong with you sending a very nice email to the breeder asking your questions. They are legitimate questions. Just don't delve into the Backyard Breeder thing. Just ask if the parents had papers, or whatever. If they are registered, you should be able to register your kitty, however ..... bengals do not have white paws. In one of the pictures, I can see rosettes that don't appear as defined in another picture. Most bengals also have ringed tails with a solid black tip. It's possible your boyfriend was taken for a ride here, but your kitty is beautiful and I'm sure he's a great addition to your family. So just enjoy him.

Thanks so much for your replies - I did message the seller last night, I was very polite and just asked if she had any papers for him that she could send on to me and that I had some concerns over whether he was a bengal. Her reply was that Ziggy's mother is her cat and is pure Bengal, but Ziggy's dad was a borrowed stud and that she asked the stud's owners for papers and he was going to send them on to her in the post but he hasn't. She said the stud was snow with white feet.

She then said that Ziggy has the classic "M" on his forehead and his tail tips are the darkest colour on his coats, both of which are the Bengal traits. I grew up with a lovely little moggy who had the M on his forehead and was most definitely not Bengal!

To be honest we are so besotted with him I am just going to leave it at that - we don't want to take him back (no way!) and I don't know enough about it all to try to push for some money back. I was just curious really as to whether he was one or not.

Wow, your snow Bengal is absolutely beautiful - his eyes are amazing! I totally see what you mean about his feet and paws, our little man definitely has distinctive white socks! Thanks for the responses/pics :o)

You have a beautiful tabby and white kitten but as the others have said, not a bengal. The spotted coat is characteristic of tabby cats so I'd say no bengal in him. If you don't mind me asking, how much did he cost? I feel annoyed that you were mislead
