Hello, everyone! Does one of your bengals have a ticked coat? What do you generally think about ticked bengals? How important is it to you?
My Jazz looks to be developing a lot of "ticking" around eyes, back of legs and back. Though I'm not an expert. I'll be a bit sad if my Jazz will loose all the contrast, because he's my first bengal. I love him no matter what though.
So, I was just wondering what this community's thoughts are on the subject

I don't know myself, but I'll be following this post because I am curious if my kitten has ticked fur. His black spots/rosettes are definitely not ticked and a very clearly contrasted from his background color, but his background colour area furs have a black band before the tip and then the normal lighter color. Funny thing is,he is very clearly contrasted. If someone can explain or even show a ticked Bengal it would be easier to understand.

I've read ticking is not something that is celebrated in Bengals. I thought my girl Lily was ticked when she was younger but she is not - her coat was growing darker and we can now clearly see glitter. Our other girl is covered in glitter.

I personally don't think it's a big deal or something to worry about but if you intend to show it may be something to avoid.

I really don't care too much about ticking in a Bengals coat. A lot of purists hate it but I think the most magical thing about a Bengal is their personality. I think that Rosie has a little bit of ticking but this doesn't bother me in the slightest as every part of her fun loving mischievous nature makes me smile.

My brown and silver bengals have ticked coats, while my new little snow does not. In certain light you notice the ticking quite a bit (especially on the brown one) and in other night you can hardly tell. Either way, the spots are still clear and they're very handsome if I do say so myself. Ticking is not desired for showing in bengals (though it is highly desired in some of the bengal's parent breeds) and the most expensive bengals will not have ticking thanks to selective breeding. Early generation bengals like mine (F3 and earlier usually) are more likely to be ticked.

One of our members here has a Bengal that has a ticked coat and she is a STUNNING Bengal that is by far one of my favorites. I personally think a Bengal is so much more than a cat with a nice coat. Not only their markings stand out but their type and look in general are different than any other cat. I will try to find the picture I am thinking about and post your it for you.
