I have watched that video sooooo many times! It is what gave me the idea of training BB! She did REALLY well with clicker training and would do several tricks, now I am lucky to get her attention long enough for me to blink once! She totally changed when we added Jasper! She no longer needs stimulation from me she gets all she needs from running and wrestling with Jasper! She still needs my cuddles tho :biggrin:

Molly's very clever, but I would never really think of training Tigger or Nala in the same way. It goes to show you how smart bengals are, but IMO it also reinforces people's misconceptions that bengals are 'the cat equivalent of dogs'. We've only trained Tigger and Nala to 'beg' for treats (offered by hand) and to 'sit nicely' for their meals (in their bowls) only because they both like to snap their jaws or help themselves to food without any patience. Other than that, we don't want them to be put 'on display' like that

I actually do not like the concept of training cats to do things like dogs... i'm a cat person, always have been. I love cats for being cats and don't feel the need to train them to perform. Training to adjust a behavior that is undesired is one thing but performance is another. To me that just isn't what cats are for.

Wow, the number of tricks that this bengal has been taught are amazing...it really does show how intelligent Bengals are!

Personally i think clicker training can be a really good bonding exercise between pet and owner. One of the wonderful things about cats is they do what they choose, so i think it wouldn't matter how hard you try, if a cat didn't want to learn these tricks, he wouldn't :wink:

My family have a little bit of a running joke that our cat is better trained than my sister's dog as Diego will sit on command first go but my sister's puppy will take AGES to finally sit when you ask :)

All my Tonkinese are very intelligent, my Bengal us stupid though. The Tonks open doors, cupboards, play fetch, jump into my arms... But they do all of these without any training at all. I am sure I could get them to do 100's of tricks if I actually trained them. However, I just want them to be cats not perform tricks. I am very bonded to all my cats, you don't need to train cats to develop a special bond with them. Toby is my shadow and Pippa my baby girl. They absolutely hate it if I'm not around.

I have no doubt cats won't do anything they don't want to do all I'm saying is that I like my cats to be cats and to me that is not performing tricks.

I have to say that I did it to drain energy!! I actually got the idea from My Cat From Hell! Agility training is very fun and BB loved it until we got Jasper and he drained the energy for me :biggrin:
