As you are probably aware, my two, Rio and Chilli, have the squits. I have gained loads of valuable advice and support this past week on this forum (thanks guys - you're great) and one suggestion was to have more litter trayd.

So I have bought a very large hooded litter tray. I wondered how long it would take for them to use it...well Chilli must have broken a Guinness world record - he was through the flap and peeing for England within 90 seconds of it hitting the floor! Rio will use it but needs a little push to go in lol.

I also got a large cat carrier whilst I was at it and both were an absolute bargain - £10 for the carrier reduced from £25 and the litter tray was £15 reduced from £22. They were clearance items but in perfect condition.

I guess it is easier to clean the inside of a hooded litterbox than having it sprayed who knows where. Glad you babies are liking it.

I love my hooded trays!! It's a little more of a hassle to scoop and clean, but it also holds in more odor!! Especially when they have upset tummies. I am sure you are well aware their little bodies can produce gigantic smells!!

I have hooded trays and love them - mine are in a massive cupboard too so no smell! yay.
I taped the door open and gradually lowered it down.

glad Rio and Chilli got used to their new trays so quickly! I've found it's not so much an issue with smell whether the trays are hooded or not. We got a hooded tray initially to help Tigger settle into better bc we bought the same ones (incidentally!) as the breeders'. In addition to the hooded tray, we've also got 2 trays with no hoods and they seem to prefer it better.

when it comes to cleanliness, I find it's a bit more of a hassle to clean the hooded one bc when they've got traces of soft poo, they wipe it on the sides of the cover as well, whereas with the unhooded ones they wipe it on the lip of the tray. As for smell, I don't really notice a difference - Tigger's are normally less smelly but Nala's can stink up a room within a second of her going! she even goes as far as to let out a little bit (which really stinks, has been happening since she was a kitten) when she gets a bit of a fright. Her reaction goes - fright, squeak, let out some poo-smelling gas
