This seems to be a very un talked about color in bengals, as I can't find very many pictures, timeline pictures, or much information about them at all, I fell in love with a solid lynx kitten and was wondering if anybody knows any information on them, maybe even post some pictures!

I thought melanistic was black. Those pics all look like Lynx bengals to me. Then again I don't know much about them, only from what I've read on sites like this: http://www.kingsmarkfarms.com/bengals/kingpattern.htm

I dont know too much about them but i do know there are melanistic snow bengals, also know as solid snow, its when the Melanistic gene and a snow jean, appear psychically i guess you would say in the same cat. it could be a solid lynx, solid mink or solid serpia. But this is the problem, i cant for the life of me find information on them online, just this facebook group, https://www.facebook.com/groups/1191919 ... ts&fref=ts

thats why i hoping to find some people on here that know more about them, i just put down a deposit on a solid lynx boy, very exited about it! This picture if of a mink snow!

Have you read the page that the picture of the solid mink snow came from? It's about charcoals but relevant if you are interested in anything relating to melanistics. http://littleleopardcats.com/bengalinformation/charcoalbengals.html

I would love to have a charcoal cat, or a solid snow. I don't know much about them, and I'm not sure how much demand there is for charcoal and melanistic cats. Rob852107 are you in the UK? Where are you getting your solid lynx from? I've been wondering if any breeders in the UK focus on these cats.

Gorgeous! I love the solids! I'd love to find a breeder who focuses on them! Although talking the OH into letting me have another bengal might be harder than finding 1!

I actually came across a solid mink kitten and mother not long ago! I was looking for a marble boy and she had a litter of two one BEAUTIFUL brown marble and there was a solid mink kitten in the litter. I can honestly say I thought they had differet fathers because the mink boy did not look bengal!!! I think if you get one that is a "solid" mink (melanistic snow) that has the rosettes they are beautiful but if thy don't have any markings they don't look Bengal. A side note as well, I don't think these cats can be in shows? Not 100% sure about that but I would think it would work the same as a black melanistic, its not a standard color! They are beautiful cats(some of them not so much bengal) but beautiful!

A solid cat cannot have visible markings, that is why they are called solid because they are all one colour. When solid cats are young their rosettes/ marbling will still show though but as they get older their coat will darken and those makings will not be visible any more. Solid and melanistic Bengals are not breed standard so could not be shown.

lovely looking, all look like chocolate or seal siamese, just the genes coming through, still really stunning though :D :D

I thought that too, it actually came to me that they have the traditional Siamese look, pushing through. They are beautiful to look at x

Melanistic snows look like Siamese because they have similar colour genetics to a Siamese.
As Bengal breeders want to emulate a forest dwelling wild cat, colour pointing which is a domestic trait is not acceptable nor desirable in the Bengal breed.
