Hi all,

I have two wonderful bengals, a six year old male and a 10 month old female.

My male was a very quite cat before the kitten came, and has lived with another cat before. The old cat died and we got the new kitten.

Since then, he has become very vocal, and it's a bit of problem (more annoying than anything). Lots of constant growling, howling when they scuffle, some hissing. I figured he'd get over it, but it seems to be a permanent change.

Anyone have a similar situation? They can sleep within 2 feet of one another, but the male is constantly "fussing" for no reason when they are both active and roaming the house. Lot of playful chasing, but it SOUNDS so serious.

Thanks in advance,

Alan

Welcome to my house  We have a very vocal 18 month old Bengal male and a very very vocal Oriental/Benal mix who is 4. They make all kinds of noises when playing (wrestling). Everything from small cooing sounds to terrible hissing and growling. Everytime I hear the older cat growl and mumble about the Bengal I say "Ah, the lovely sounds of children playing."

It may sound serious, but it rarely is. I never find it annoying, but I do like vocal cats.

Glad to know I'm not the only one. It just seems so out of character for the male, who was so quiet before the new bengal arrived. When they wrestle, it sounds like a back alley cat fight! If the female is the aggressor in the wrestling match, the male is literally screaming. He now always walks around "griping" for no apparent reason.

The female kitten is silent during these encounters. The only time she makes noise is to chatter or meow when something excites/confuses her, like when looking out the windows.

As I type this this, they are both sitting here watching me. At any moment, I'll have a bengal "tornado" at my feet!

I still wouldn't have any other type of cat though. I love them.

Ours don't fight as much as they used to, when they do there is some growling and hissing going on, but it's only playful :D I actually quite like it, makes them sound wild ;)
