£350 is on the low side for the South of England. I would say most breeders would start at £450 'down south'.
Pattern and colour also affect the price. You may find yourself paying more for snows and yet more for silvers. And some breeders will discount for marbles because they're still not believed to be as popular as spotties.

What would be the upper price and/or what price would be considered too much for a top quality pet kitten?

I guess if the cost is too high, might it be bordering on breeding kitten prices, or is there a distinct price gap?

Some breeders sell their most gorgeous kittens as either show/breeding or 'special pet'.
In this case you can read 'special' to mean 'expensive'.
This means paying show/breeding prices. Perhaps £1200 for a girl and £1500 for a boy. Top bucks would probably be £1500-1600 for a girl and £1800-£2000 for a boy.

It really depends on the breeder & the kittens parentage as well as markings and colour as Nicola has mentioned, Personally i would say decide what colour you like & then look on the internet to find breeders of that particular colour & then take it from there...

Here in the States, the marbles are usually priced about the same as the spotties. It seems the marbles are being recognized more and more.

I got all three of mine for a total of £450 but the circumstances were a bit unusual. Two had been returned from a bad homing and the breeder wanted them re-homed to a sensible owner as quickly as possible. In addition they've all got "issues" that mean they're only pet quality, plus the breeder wanted to stop breeding Bengals. Taken together, that meant I got them all for a knock-down price which I thank God for - otherwise I would never have had these bundles of joy in my life!
