soo i figured my little guy is just a regular tabby, maybe a few neat markings but.. regular tabby. figured this mostly because i saw the litter and they were just regular other kittens. i went to the vet to get this guy, his name is mr. hanky, his second shots and the vet sort of stared at him for a few minutes and told me he's probably got bengal in him ... this isn't the first time i've heard this, however... i mean.. tabby..?? i tried to avoid asking questions, went to a bunch of sites and stuff.. but can't get an answer for myself.
he doesn't have a shimmer.. his mom is umm, forgive my lack of cat knowledge, i'm a dog person haha! umm his mom has a medium coat, white with a greyish tail and ears the lady is probably a kitten mill (was going to say puppymill but..). if i had known that, i would have NOT got a kitten from her.. but mr. hanky is freaking adorable so i'm kinda glad i did.

any answers would be appreciated!

Did you get to see the Dad at all? The mum's colourings sound very 'non' bengal, so i think he's a tabby - but he's very sweet!

the mom definitely isn't bengal at all, but i didn't see the dad. what the vet was saying is if there was more than one male involved, there's a chance that if the father was bengal, regardless of what the other kittens looked like.. like i said, i think he's just a tabby and it really doesn't make much difference to me if he is part bengal or not.. but lets be honest, it would be freaking cool if he was! they're such gorgeous cats! =) maybe one day down the road i'll be able to get one as a pet!

If you bought your kitten from someone who was a "kittenmill" breeder than I would assume they owned your kitten's father as well.

If you were a shady breeder and had a male bengal, it would make sense to breed him as much as you could to lure in buyers with the "bengal kittens" right? So if the breeder never once mentioned a Bengal, then you can safely assume she doesn't have one, and there is no bengal in your cat. If she thought she could pass your kitten off as part bengal I'm sure you wouldn't have been able to shut her up about it!

fair enough guessing not too many people would let their bengal run loose in a city huh!

Well, not all Bengals are glittered but it's obvious that his Mom isn't a Bengal. I think he looks part Bengal or Savannah. Very pretty boy regardless of his heritage. If the lady ran a kitten mill- what breed were her cats supposed to be?

I can see honestly see where your vet is coming from but bu looking at him and his ears and how large they are I would lean more towards having a savannah somewhere down the line. He does have a wild look to him like a bengal or savannah!! He is beautiful regardless!!!

i'm doubt she was running a kitten mill with purebreeds (obviously from hanky's case) so much as just continuously breeding her cat and selling the kittens to make a small profit. think it was more of the "cute kitten" she was going for to bring her money in and there were some cuties in this litter!

i knew right from the start the mom wasn't bengal or savannah, just really have no clue what the father is.

thanks for all the input and cuteness comments i'll try to remember upload some pictures of him when he's a bit older to see how he turns out, if anyone is interested... i have a feeling he might be an interesting looking fella!

on a side note.. all of you guys are obviously cat owners and know their behaviours well.. hanky is an only cat right now and i was offered a kitten (1yo) from a collegue. hanky is 3 months right now. i would love to get him a companion but i'm worried about spraying..? he's getting neutered asap (6mo right?) but i'm just wondering if getting a companion before i do so, will that increase the likely hood of him spraying or is it totally dependant on the cat himself?

Is the other cat male or female and is the other cat neutered or spayed?

she's 1 and is spayed, up to date with shots... she's currently living with 6 other cats..
if i did get her, it probably wouldn't be for another month or so. not sure if that matters
